Carlo Aquino has been in the spotlight for as long as we can remember, starting as a child star and growing into one of the most prominent actors of his generation. Through the years, he’s given us unforgettable roles and iconic scenes. But this time, Carlo isn’t just here to entertain—he’s spilling tea and serving wisdom on life in showbiz.
In an episode of Kapamilya Chat, he faced a list of juicy, no-holds-barred questions about his career, co-stars, and the entertainment world—and if he refused to spill, he had to take a sip of a mystery drink.
The Kapamilya leading man brought the spice right from the start of the challenge, as he didn't hold back when asked about the attitude that he dislikes most in showbiz. Read: "Mga pakialamera," or those people who act like they know everything about an artist’s life just because they watched them or read something online. "Nanood ka lang sa amin, tapos nagbigay ka na ng opinyon mo, nakakasakit ka pa. Bakit kailangan umabot sa gano’n?" From there, Carlo didn’t hesitate to drop a bolder take, saying, "Kaya naiinis ako sa mga troll farms na ‘yan."
From being all fired up, he switched gears and got sweet when asked to name three of his favorite actors he’s worked with. Of course, his wife and former “A Soldier's Heart” co-star Charlie Dizon made it to the list. Along with her were the Star For All Seasons Vilma Santos, who he starred with in the movie “Bata Bata Paano Ka Ginawa”—where he delivered his iconic line, "Akala mo lang wala! Pero meron, meron, meron!"—as well as his constant on-screen leading lady Julia Barretto. Carlo and Julia will also be starring together in the upcoming movie “Hold Me Close,” an entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival 2024, hitting theaters this Christmas!
When asked which actor still makes him nervous to work with, he shrugged and said, "Parang wala, explaining that he wouldn't really know until he's in the moment. But he did admit that he was totally rattled at first when he worked with Vilma in “Bata Bata Paano Ka Ginawa,” especially since Vilma was his mom's favorite actress.
Then, Carlo just laughed off the question about which actor he wouldn’t want to work with, saying he doesn't want to give the gossipers anything to talk about. But honestly, he’s open to working with anyone because he believes there’s always something to learn from everyone.
Carlo didn’t want to waste time remembering what all the “marites” out there had to say about him, so when asked about the worst comment he’s read online, he just opted to drink instead. Lucky for him, the mystery drink turned out to be dalandan juice, and he actually liked it!
