As an actress still finding her rhythm and honing her craft, consistent self-reflection will surely help in Analain Salvador’s growth. Watching herself on screen is likely a good way of assessing whether she’s satisfied with her performance or if there’s something she could improve.
In this edition of Kapamilya React, Analain gamely took on the challenge of reviewing her scenes from the trending teleserye “Lavender Fields,” where she plays the multifaceted role of Heather Buenavidez. And, surely, her honest and humble comments will make you admire her even more!
As Heather, she often engages in fiery acting sparring with Janine Gutierrez, who plays her half-sister, Iris Buenavidez, in the story. One of the most explosive so far was when Heather tried to warn Iris about taking back a “garbage”—referring to Iris’ ex-husband, Tyrone (Jericho Rosales). But Heather’s concern didn’t sit well with Iris, whose inner demons came out as she grabbed her sister by the neck, nearly throwing her over the balcony before tossing her to the floor.
It was a truly terrifying moment to watch, and it turns out Analain felt the same way while filming the confrontation. She admitted to being genuinely nervous upon seeing the blazing intensity in Janine’s eyes. Fondly referring to her as Ate Nini, Analain shares, “Kinabahan ako kay Ate Nini do’n! Grabe ‘yung mata ni Ate Nini, lalo na sa aktingan, nangangain! Kain na kain ako do’n, aminado ako!”
In delicate sequences that require giving it their all while being cautious to avoid injuries, rehearsals and open communication between the actors and director are essential. Fortunately, Analain feels comfortable collaborating with Janine, as they’ve developed an easy rapport since working together on “Marry Me, Marry You” in 2022—Analain’s first-ever teleserye project. She shares that Janine would always check in with her before takes, asking where it’s okay to hit, grab, or hold her, ensuring that the scene could be executed smoothly and safely.
If you're an observant viewer, you might notice the fog in the location, which Analain reveals was completely real. It messed up her hair so much, which brings us to the next scene where Heather was having lunch with her dad, Vito (Edu Manzano), when Iris entered with her trademark icy demeanor. According to Analain, this scene was shot right after the choking incident on the balcony. That’s why her hair was tied up—it got disheveled due to the fog in the previous scene, and there wasn’t enough time to iron it again.
Next, Analain shows a totally genuine reaction, wincing while watching herself act with Janine and their lead star, Jodi Sta. Maria. Here, Heather engaged in another verbal battle with Iris, who was in the middle of a meeting with Lavender (Jodi), prompting the latter to intervene.
As for why she seems critical of herself while previewing it, Analain admits she isn’t quite impressed with her performance. This was her first-ever scene with Jodi and her first time working under Director Manny Palo, which made her so nervous that it affected her delivery.
“Halata naman siguro sa boses ko ‘yung kaba ko as I sounded so monotonous,” she remarks with an honest, wincing face. “Kung pwede ko lang ulitin ‘yung scene na ‘yun, uulitin ko ‘yun.”
But she made up for it and was scarily good in the part where Heather became hysterical, as her trauma, fear, and guilt all collided at once. Heather delivered an unexpected confession that she was the one who killed Marigold (Kate Alejandrino). Unknown to her, she was secretly being overheard by Marigold’s mother, Aster (Maricel Soriano).
From head to toe, the rising star truly embodied Heather's insanity, which was even more impressive considering this was the very first sequence they shot that day, around 10 in the morning. She jokingly felt like she had just woken up and was expected to perform right away. “Inulit-ulit ko pa ‘yung lines ko do’n para sumapi sa akin si Heather,” she shares about her preparation, and clearly, her method worked.
