Aside from her captivating beauty, impressive singing prowess, and admirable personality another thing that endears “Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11” 4th Big Placer Kai Montinola to her fans and even casual viewers is her grace, wit, and eloquence, which we got to witness through her interview with Bianca Gonzalez in the latest episode of “BRGY,” the online talk show streaming on The Filipino Channel’s official YouTube channel.
Their lighthearted and insightful conversation commenced with the gracious host asking her enthusiastic guest her most favorite part of the recent goings-on in her life, now that she is back in the outside world and has already set her foot in the entertainment scene. Kai divulged that it’s the rehearsals since it has been a longtime dream of hers to perform and she’s able to really feel it in their practices.
On her journey from being a young dreamer to a becoming a promising artist
Not a lot of people may know but the expression “third’s the charm” actually applies to Kai as Bianca revealed that PBB was not the former’s first shot in showbiz as she joined two local kiddie talent competitions many years ago. However, it seems that those were not the right moments for her yet, as she’s apparently poised for bigger things.
Since she’s dubbed “The Singing Gwapa of Cebu,” Bianca had Kai talk about her journey by singing songs that reminded her of some of the significant moments of her life that were represented by the old photos shown to her and the viewers.
The first one was a picture of her as a little girl holding a fried chicken, to which she belted out Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb.” According to her, it has been her ambition to have a billboard wherein she can be seen posing with a chicken in her hand, which she has been manifesting.
When asked how she became the confident young woman that she is now, Kai credited her parents for it. She said, “I was brought up kasi to be confident. My parents made sure that my self-esteem is there, as long as I am not overly confident na parang ang yabang ko na. Kaya talaga noong bata pa ako, I was very confident with what I could do and I look forward to how I can improve myself.”
Her dream of becoming a performer stemmed from how much she enjoyed the process of developing her singing and dancing talents, especially when she was still a kid. It helped her realize that she wants to keep doing it, so she’s proud of herself that she finally gets to do it at present.
She then dedicated Kelly Clarkson’s “Because of You” to her adoptive mother and father, whom she got to appreciate more when she entered Bahay ni Kuya. At the same time, her stint in the reality competition also made her realize that she can actually do a lot of things by herself while equipped with the values instilled in her by her parents.
And lastly, she sang “Style” by Taylor Swift as a photo of her in a fabulous shimmering dress, which represented her phase as a fashion model was shown. Quizzed by Bianca if did she ever always know it in her heart that something like this will happen, Kai confirmed that she indeed.
“Ever since I was younger, I always just look up on TV [or] internet and I would always think to myself, ‘I’m gonna do that.’ I just don’t know how I’m gonna do it, when [it’s going to happen]. I knew I was going to have it,” she enthused.
