Little mermaid Mutya Orquia made a big splash when “Pablo S. Gomez’ Mutya” premiered on January 31, 2011 on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida.
Written by Pablo S. Gomez, "Mutya" is a fantasy novel about mermaids. It is a story of a woman named Cordelia (Precious Lara Quigaman) who unexpectedly fell in love with Irvin (Alfred Vargas), the prince of the sea. As unforeseen events took place, the two parted ways and drifted into different situations. Prince Irvin married another mermaid while Cordelia gave birth to Mutya.
The powerhouse cast of "Mutya" included Malou Crisologo as Octupina, Sandy Andolong as Madam Delilah, Tess Antonio as Ester, Gary Lim as Lolo Sheldon, and Pen Medina as Haring Merrick.
The Kapamilya fantaserye was directed by Erick Salud and Jojo Saguin.
