MANILA — BINI returned to the Coachella stage for Weekend 2 with another impactful set reflecting their evolving identity.
The "nation’s girl group" opened with “Strings,” a production they developed in close collaboration with arrangers Choi Padilla and Errol Apacible.

“Stacey sent me a DM. She sent me a ‘peg’... like an inspiration. We were able to align more with the sound they wanted because, initially, that was the sound we envisioned doing. They were very hands-on,” Padilla recalled.
The song’s details reveal a long journey behind the scenes. What played before an international crowd began as a simple medley the arrangers created years earlier, now reworked alongside the artists they admired.
The original cover consisted of “Golden Arrow,” “Born to Win,” and “Lagi.”

“The dance break for ‘Strings’ was from our cover some four years ago. We thought it really suited ‘Strings,’ but I made the strings tighter to preserve the character and identity of the song. We took it from ‘Born to Win’ and put it into ‘Strings,’” Apacible explained.
“We met BINI for our project then. We did ‘Golden Arrow,’ ‘Lagi,’ then ‘Born to Win.’ Seeing that dance break actually being used—I was waiting to cry. It's incredible; from covering their songs on YouTube, Errol and I did a medley four years ago,” Padilla added.
