Since his rise to fame in Pinoy Dream Academy, OPM singer Bugoy Drilon has made his mark in the local music industry. Despite 18 years in the industry, Bugoy confessed that there is still one dream he has yet to achieve.
During the launch of his album Anthems, the singer shared his desire to finally have his own solo concert this year.
“Siguro po concert naman (this year) kasi sabi ko nga, 18 years na ako in the industry, wala ako masyado ginagawa na solo concert kasi nga po lagi po ako natatakot kung may aattend ba or manonood ba or makikinig ba,” Bugoy said.
“Ayon ‘yung another goal ko na sana this year: aside from the album ay magkaroon ako ng solo concert and also tour,” he added.
Now returning as an independent artist, Bugoy is also embracing a more personal and honest approach to his music, allowing listeners to see his growth beyond the image of him that they first knew.
“Gusto ko naman ikwento sa kanila ‘yung story ko. Kaya ginawa ko itong album na ito para mas lalo nila ako maintindihan kasi they only know me sa reality show, sa Pinoy Dream Academy. Ngayon naman, gusto ko sila dalhin sa artistry ko, na I want to connect my old songs and new songs together,” Bugoy told PUSH ABS-CBN.
He added, “This is also my first R&B album kasi lagi ako nale-label na wala akong nilalabas noon na R&B, so ito na iyon.”
Despite the challenges faced as an independent artist, Bugoy remains grateful for the people who supported him in his career.
“Kahit na very challenging ang ginagawa natin, at the end of the day is fulfilling na tayo magkakasama dito. I wanna share ‘yung blessings na ibe-bless sa akin ni God. I am blessed na sila (314 Studios) ang binigay sa akin ni God to continue i-pursue ‘yung dreams ko,” he said.
Bugoy also remained grounded in his mindset of trusting the process and staying committed to his craft.
“Trust ko lang ‘yung process and I'll just keep doing the work. Wala naman sa akin and hindi ko kontrol ang mangyayari. Ang gagawin ko lang ay ipagpatuloy ang paggawa ng kanta, spread my gift, kasi ibinigay iyon sa akin ni God to share my gift,” he remarked.
With nearly two decades in the industry, Bugoy offered advice to aspiring artists who are still finding their way.
“Yung mashe-share ko is ‘wag kang titigil kahit mahirap kasi magkakaiba tayo ng timeline ng success. Sometimes nag-give up tayo ‘pag wala tayo agad nakikitang resulta pero minsan process ‘yun para i-feel ‘yung sarili and substance sa ginagawa natin, na maramdaman natin ‘yung fulfillment. Kahit isa or dalawa o limang tao na nakaka-appreciate ng music mo, that's something special na may nakikinig sa’yo. Don't quit and be patient,” he said.
