"Golden" has made history at the 2026 Grammys as the first K-Pop song to win a Grammy award.
The hit song from the Netflix animated movie KPop Demon Hunters bagged the Best Song Written for Visual Media, which was announced during the pre-telecast ceremony of the Grammy Awards on February 1 (US time).
"Golden" is performed by EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami and written by EJAE, Teddy, Mark Sonnenblick, IDO, and 24.
"Golden" was also nominated for and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at this year's Grammys.
KPop Demon Hunters centers on Huntr/x, a K-pop trio juggling their superstar lives with a hidden mission which is battling demons. Their double life takes a dangerous turn when they clash with the Saja Boys, a rival boy group whose members are revealed to be actually demons.
Back in December 2025, Netflix announced that the film reached 500 million views since it premiered on their platform.
"Golden" also recently won the Best Original Song for a Motion Picture at the Golden Globes in January.
In the speech she delivered at the awards ceremony, EJAE reflected on her journey in the entertainment industry.
"When I was a little girl, I worked tirelessly for 10 years to fulfill one dream: to become a K-pop idol. And I was rejected and disappointed that my voice wasn't good enough," she recounted. "So I had leaned on songs and music to get through it so now I'm here as a singer and a songwriter."
The singer also remarked that being part of the song that resonated with many listeners around the world was deeply meaningful to her.
"It's a dream come true to be part of a song that is helping other girls, other boys and everyone from all ages to get through their hardship and to accept themselves. So, thank you Golden Globes for accepting my voice and our voice," she said.
EJAE also dedicated the award to those who have faced rejection in their own journeys.
"This award goes to people who've had doors closed at them. And that I can confidently say rejection is redirection. So never give up and it's never too late to shine like you're born to be," she remarked.
KPop Demon Hunters also received the Best Animated Motion Picture Award at the Golden Globes.
