MANILA -- "Reyna," the song of actress-beauty queen Michelle Dee, has been streamed on Spotify for over 1 million times.
During a conference for the launch of the music video of "Reyna (Pride Version)," Dee expressed her happiness about her song's milestone.
"Grabe 'yung pa-1 million ha. ... My gosh nakakataba po talaga ng puso. We together with Star Music and GMA, we came together to create the song, our objective was really, really clear -- this is for every single queen, whether you are woman, man or anything in between. It's for you to find your strength to be who you are," said Dee.
"And this is just a product of so many people being able to relate to that. Kaya marami pa pong kailangang abangan," Dee said.
Dee, Miss Universe Philippines 2023, released the empowerment anthem in March.

In celebration of Pride Month, Dee will be releasing the special music video on Thursday, June 26.

"I only came out I think around 2023 after I won Miss Universe Philippines. Pero even before that I was a loud and proud ally of LGBT community. I really credit my mom na ganoon ako mag-isip. Bata pa lang ako she was so vocal about her love to the gay community, to the whole community. If you remember I'm the most bashed Miss Universe Philippines queen because they were trying to take that against me, my identity against me," Dee said.
"When I came out grabe talaga 'yung reception and how it really turned the table for me and my confidence and the kind of love I received from the community. And I know this is a big community that helped me do what I did in El Salvador and do what I did after. And this is really for them and for what they've been able to do for me," said Dee who represented the Philippines at the 2023 Miss Universe pageant in El Salvador.
Dee, who is also an actress, said she already sees herself into doing music, even before she joined beauty pageants. Aftert all, she was active in theater and glee club growing up.
"It was after Miss Universe that I felt like it was the right time to finally expose a side of me that I've been itching to do," Dee said.
Last year, Dee released her rendition of "Try," her first cover, which she uploaded on her YouTube channel.
