Filipino boy group SB19 sat down with American internet media Buzzfeed earlier this month and shared some of their thoughts on their career, music, and what’s next for P-Pop. Often referred to as the Kings of P-Pop due to their significant recognition–– both locally and internationally–– the quintet are hopeful about the next generation of Filipino talents.
SB19 is composed of Stell, Pablo, Josh, Felip, and Justin and has been active in the P-Pop scene for almost a decade already.

In their interview, Pablo and Josh expressed how P-Pop in general has been “growing really quickly” with several groups making their presence felt not just in the country but across the globe as well.
“Doors are opening for everyone to have this platform and showcase their talents here in the Philippines and slowly in the global scene,” Pablo shared.
“We're here to build and support it. We're not here to gatekeep anything, and we're here to really give our all and share the things that we learn to everyone who's still dreaming to be part of P-pop,” Josh added.
Pablo is hopeful that P-Pop will open a whole lot of opportunities for everyone to appreciate not only Filipino music but also the culture that the country has.
“I think in the next coming years, we will be exporting shows like P-pop conventions in other countries —promoting not just music, but also the food, TV shows, and whatnot — and creating this wave of Filipino culture being celebrated all over the world. That's what I'm seeing,” he expressed.
Despite being successful, SB19 remained humble and grateful about their success. The group shared with Buzzfeed that they are still “overwhelmed” but grateful with what’s been happening in their career.

“We're really just kids trying to enjoy what we are doing right now. We really love what we're doing so much; that's why whenever we think about something, we try to execute it, even though it feels impossible,” the group shared.
Meanwhile, SB19 just dropped their latest EP, Simula at Wakas, following the success of their 2023 release, Pagtatag! They are set to hold their Simula at Wakas world tour starting this May 31 and June 1 at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.
