Sadie Sink is officially making her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but despite the film's approaching release, fans are still in the dark about who exactly she will be playing.
Best known for portraying Max Mayfield in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, the Gen Z actress joins Tom Holland in the latest installment of the Spider-Man franchise. While anticipation continues to build, Marvel has yet to reveal any official details about her character, leaving fans to come up with countless theories online.
Speaking with Nylon, Sadie admitted that keeping Marvel's biggest secret has not been much of a challenge. Having spent nearly a decade protecting major Stranger Things plot twists from fans, the actress joked that staying quiet has become second nature.
“You just don’t share the secret, it’s not that hard,” she said with a laugh.
The publication also said that Sadie did not have to go through the traditional audition process to land the role.
Instead, director Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously worked with the actress on the 2017 film The Glass Castle, directly offered her the part. Despite being cast, she did not receive the script until after arriving in London for production.
Coming from a strong theater background, including performances in Annie and Romeo & Juliet, Sadie admitted that joining one of the world's biggest superhero franchises was an entirely new experience.
“I knew that Marvel was a big deal and had a big brand, especially Spider-Man,” she said. “I know there’s a huge fan base, but it feels really big. I think these blockbuster movies are a whole different beast.”
Although she was the newcomer on set, Sadie said Tom helped make the transition much easier.
“It was interesting stepping into that space and being a little bit of an outsider in that way, but he could not have been more welcoming, and just the whole crew in general,” she shared.
“He was just so relaxed and open, and I felt very at ease.”
While Sadie's character remains under wraps, Tom returns once again as Peter Parker following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Returning alongside Tom are Zendaya and Filipino-American actor Jacob Batalon, while Mark Ruffalo and Jon Bernthal will also appear as Hulk and the Punisher, respectively.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to open in Philippine cinemas on July 29.
