Maggie Kang, Michelle Wong, and Chris Appelhans–– the creative minds behind the global hit film KPop Demon Hunters–– shared the reason why the sequel is slated to be released in 2029. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight during the recently concluded Golden Globes earlier this week, the three shared how happy they are with the outcome of their film.
KPop Demon Hunters bagged two awards at the Golden Globes–– Best Motion Picture – Animated and Best Original Song – Motion Picture for "Golden."

Maggie expressed how ecstatic they are that their film had made millions of viewers happy.
“It’s just like a child that we’ve created that’s out in the world making everybody happy and we’re just really proud of what this little movie is doing out there in the world,” Maggie shared.
Echoing Maggie’s statement, Michelle maintained that they are equally proud of the music team that made the original songs for their film.
“We love all of the songs–– our babies— they truly represent and tell the story of our movie. We’re very proud and thankful for our music team,” Michelle added.
When asked by the interviewer about why it’s going to take a long time for the sequel of the highly-rated film, Chris explained how animating the girls and making sure they are still “as amazing” is the top priority.
“You know one of the best things about animation is you can kind of create imaginary movie stars from scratch and the writing, the designing, the animating is really hard work–– it takes a long time,” Chris said.
“We love it and we’re so thrilled that the audience has really embraced these three girls like real K-Pop stars. We want to make sure anytime we see them again they are as amazing as they’re meant to be,” he added.
Whether it’ll be on Netflix again or if it will be hitting the big screens in 2029, the three are mum about it and admitted they don’t know yet.
“We’ll see. We do not know,” Maggie ended.
