On this day, 19 years ago, ABS-CBN opened the doors of Pinoy Dream Academy (PDA), introducing the country to 20 hopeful singers who lived, learned, and sang their hearts out inside the “academy.” The Kapamilya show, which debuted on August 27, 2006, focused not only on competition but also on growth—showing audiences how these dreamers trained, bonded, and transformed week after week.
Now, 19 years later, here’s a look back at PDA Season 1’s unforgettable batch and where their journeys have taken them.
Yeng Constantino of Rizal
Crowned the Grand Star Dreamer, Yeng instantly connected with the audience through her songs. After PDA, she became the Pop Rock Princess of OPM, releasing chart-topping albums and anthems like “Jeepney Love Story,” “Ikaw,” “Chinito” and “Salamat.” Beyond her music career, she has also become a mentor to younger artists, a sought-after judge on music shows, and an advocate for OPM. Today, Yeng balances her artistry with married life and continues to pursue her passion for music, releasing her own songs as an independent artist.
Jay-R Siaboc of Cebu
The Cebuano crooner won hearts with his emotional hit “Hiling.” Jay-R placed second in PDA. He later ventured into acting and continued performing in concerts and TV shows. While he has stepped away from the mainstream limelight in recent years, he remains active in music locally, performing at events.
Ronnie Liang of Angeles City
Ronnie’s heartfelt ballad “Ngiti” remains one of the most recognizable OPM songs from his batch. But his journey didn’t stop at music as he became an actor, endorser, and one of the most versatile PDA alumni. Over the years, he pursued bigger dreams: training as a licensed pilot, joining the Philippine Army as a reservist, and most recently, earning a doctorate degree.
Panky Trinidad of Cebu
Known as PDA’s rocker chick, Panky stood out with her edgy voice and commanding stage presence. After the academy, she pursued her passion for performing with bands and live gigs, carrying her signature rock energy. She is now based in California, where she still performs and nurtures her love for music.
Irish Fullerton of California
Irish charmed audiences with her angelic presence and sweet, wholesome performances inside the academy. After PDA, she chose to live a more private life away from the spotlight. She is now based in California, where she has embraced family life as a mother of two.
Chad Peralta of Australia
Chad’s warm personality and heartfelt performances earned him fans during his PDA stint. After the show, he opted for a quieter life away from showbiz. Although updates about him are rare, he remains part of the show’s cherished pioneer batch.
Emman Abatayo of Iloilo
Emman Abatayo won the hearts of many with his sincerity and heartfelt performances. Proudly representing Iloilo, he became a hometown favorite during the academy. After the show, Emman continued doing gigs and live performances, while also producing and writing his own music, keeping his artistry and passion alive.
Davey Langit of Baguio
After PDA, Davey Langit became one of OPM’s most respected songwriters and producers. He has penned hits for other artists while also releasing his own music. His artistry bridges performing and creating, making him a vital part of today’s Filipino music scene. Earlier this August, Davey shared health updates after suffering from back pains, assuring fans of his recovery.
Chai Fonacier of Cagayan De Oro
One of PDA’s biggest transformations, Chai shifted her focus from music to acting. She became a multi-awarded indie actress with films like Patay na si Hesus, Miss Bulalacao, and Nocebo. Her talent even crossed international borders, landing roles alongside Hollywood stars.
RJ Jimenez of Pasig
RJ became well-loved for his collaborations, especially with Rachelle Ann Go. Known for his soothing, pop-friendly voice, he continues to perform in gigs, weddings, and events. Beyond music, he is a proud father to his daughter Ellie, who also pursued her own singing journey on Idol Kids Philippines.

Oona Barretto of Bukidnon
Oona brought her individuality and artistic spirit to PDA, captivating viewers with her unique style. After the academy, she chose a quieter life and is now a teacher while also embracing her role as a mother of three.

Geoff Taylor of Cagayan Valley
Though his PDA journey ended early, Geoff proved his star power by later joining GMA’s Are You the Next Big Star? where he won as Grand Champion with Frencheska Farr. This victory opened doors to recording projects and TV appearances. Today, Geoff continues performing while also enjoying life as a father to his daughter.
Jun Hirano of Japan
Jun Hirano was remembered in PDA for his cool and easygoing personality. Now based in Japan, he remains active in music, performing gigs as part of the Japanese band The Rodelia. Beyond the stage, Jun has also embraced life as a family man.
The season also included Rosita Bareng of Dubai, Yvan Lambatan of Baguio, Joan Ilagan of Italy, Michelle Bond of Amsterdam, Iya Ginez of Pangasinan, Kristoff Abrenica of Canada, and Gemma Fitzgerald of Australia.
