The fictional Ying De University, which Shan Cai and the F4 boys from Taiwan attended, is actually National Chung Cheng University in real life.
At Ying De University, an elite school at the heart of Meteor Garden, much of the drama unfolds. It’s here that the feisty Shan Cai, played by the late Barbie Hsu, first meets the F4 boys and boldly stands up to her bullies—kicking off the unforgettable story that fans know and love.
This is also where many iconic scenes unfolded, including the facade where F4 exuded their signature coolness, and of course, the unforgettable rooftop moments filled with undeniable chemistry between Hua Ze Lei and Shan Cai.

2. Tamkang University

According to reports, in addition to National Chung Cheng University, Tamkang University also served as the exterior of the fictional Ying De University, with several exterior shots filmed here. It became a backdrop to Shan Cai's journey, witnessing her numerous confrontations and moments of joy of our lead.

Do you remember that adorable and playful episode where Dao Ming Si and Shan Cai babysit little Wang Xiao Long? It all took place at the Taipei Zoo.
METEOR GARDEN (2001)
In this episode, Shan Cai agrees to babysit Xiao Long and brings him along to meet Dao Ming Si, who gets upset about having a child intrude on their date. Reluctantly, Si joins them, and despite the tension, he ends up carrying the exhausted Xiao Long on his shoulder. The episode wraps up with Shan Cai reassuring Xiao Long that the argument wasn’t his fault and telling him not to grow up like Si.
These locations have become a hit even with local celebrities. In January 2024, celebrity couple Khalil and Gabbi attended the "Panahon sa Taiwan: Ang Iyong Love Story" campaign launch.
Khalil shared, "We visited the Meteor Garden shooting locations. The energy there is so relaxing, peaceful, and romantic—perfect for a love story."
Gabbi added, "Taiwan has so much more to offer than just Taipei. Kaohsiung is a must-visit, and it’s the music center of Taiwan with direct flights from Manila."

Even actress-vlogger Alex Gonzaga reshared throwback photos of her fun cosplay with friend Luis Manzano as Shan Cai and Dao Ming Si, recreating the iconic bus scene from the drama.
In a recent Instagram story, she paid tribute to Hsu's untimely passing, writing, "My obsession with Meteor Garden is real."
