MANILA -- Actor Enrique Gil has clarified rumors that he was unhappy that his comeback movie "I Am Not A Big Bird" didn't do as well at the local box office when it was released in cinemas earlier this year.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Tuesday afternoon for his upcoming horror film "Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital," Gil stressed that he enjoyed making the comedy movie, which he described as his passion project and his gift for his father.
"Sinabi ko nga sa lahat ng tao, maybe 'yung director namin he is expecting more pero ako kasi sa lahat ng movie na nagawa ko -- ang dami kong nagawang blockbuster films na rin -- pero for some reason, ito 'yung paulit-ulit kong papanoorin dahil ito 'yung pinaka nag-enjoy ako. Kasi it's the movie that I really wanted to do. So ito for me, parang passion project ko ito. This was a gift for my dad kasi mahilig kami sa comedy. So I'm proud of it. " Gil said.
"I really loved what we did. I miss 'yung mga old comedy. Ngayon kasi ang daming takot na mag-expirement, not like the old times na you can just, you know, shoot a movie. Sabi nga ni Adam Sandler na these times we can't do movies like we used to before.
"On that note, sabi ko we have to do this. I really want to do this. Maybe the audience wasn't ready for it but in Netflix, a lot of people really loved it. Sa lahat ng mga kaibigan ko, pati sa promo namin ng 'Strange Frequencies' ay Big Bird ang isinisigaw ng tao. So sa tingin ko nag-enjoy naman sila," the Kapamilya actor added
"I Am Not Big Bird," a sexy comedy film directed by Victor Villanueva was shown in cinemas last February. It was distributed by Star Cinema.

Currently, Gil is busy promoting his horror movie "Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital," an official entry to this year's Metro Manila Film Festival. It opens in cinemas on Christmas Day, December 25.
