Fans and netizens were abuzz after Vice Ganda and Vic Sotto exchanged unexpected greetings during the closing spiels of their respective noontime shows, fueling speculation that the two stars may be working on a project together.

During his closing spiel, Vice took a moment before signing off to greet the veteran actor-host whom he called his idol.

“Ay guys! May babatiin lang ako, yung idol ko. Hi, Bossing Vic!” Vice said. “Hi, Bossing! I love you!”

His fellow hosts Amy Perez, Jackie Gonzaga, Kim Chiu, Vhong Navarro, and Jugs Jugueta reacted with cheers.

Vic returned the greeting and appeared to tease an upcoming meeting with Vice soon.

“Teka lang may bumati sa akin kanina eh. Babatiin ko rin siya ngayon. What’s up, Vice!” Vic said “Mag-uusap tayo, huh?”

His co-hosts Maine Mendoza, Miles Ocampo, and Allan K also reacted, with Allan jokingly asking, “Pinagbabantaan mo ba si Vice?”

Vic then replied, “Hindi. Mag-usap tayo ng masinsinan. Basta ang masasabi ko lang sa iyo, mwa mwa tsup tsup.”

The surprise interaction quickly made the rounds online, with fans wondering whether the two stars were hinting at an upcoming collaboration.

“Kinikilabutan ako! Mangyayari naa!

Madlang People at Dabarkads!

Totoo ba ang chismis? MMFF 2026 pasabogggggg!!!” a netizen said.

Another one also said, “Grabe yung tuwa ko as a fan. Naluluha ako. Nagsama na yung dalawa sa favorites ko, sa iisang movie for MMFF🥹 Can’t wait sa i-ooffer niyo sa amin sa pasko. I will definitely be seated! Kahit panoorin ko yan nang ilang beses."

The exchange further fueled long-running rumors that Vice and Vic could be joining forces for a Metro Manila Film Festival entry, especially after an online post, now deleted, claimed the two would star in a film together.

Neither Vice, Vic, nor their respective camps have confirmed the speculation. However, both stars have previously expressed openness to working together.

In a 2024 interview, Vic said he would welcome the opportunity if the right project came along.

“It’s not impossible. Siguro in the future try natin. Oo sure (open ako). Wala akong pinipili,” he said as posted by Philstar.com.

Earlier this year, Vice also teased that his next Metro Manila Film Festival entry would feature a "pasabog" collaboration.

“Nakailang meeting na rin naman kami. Nagbe-brainstorm kami every now and then. Nakailang meeting na kami. Bongga 'yung ka-collab ko this time,” he said during an interview with the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd). “Isa siyang pasabog na collab.”

He added that it would be something audiences had not seen in his years of joining the festival: “Siyempre ang tagal ko na rin namang nagso-solo movie. So excited din 'yung mga tao na makita kung sino 'yung ibang puwede ko pang makasama sa pelikula.”

Both Vice and Vic are among the Metro Manila Film Festival's biggest box-office draws.

Vice's most recent festival entry was Call Me Mother, directed by Jun Robles Lana, which earned him the Best Actor award. Meanwhile, Vic headlined Michael Tuviera's The Kingdom, which won Best Production Design and Best Visual Effects.
