Lea Salonga has paved the way for countless Pinoy artists to dream big and reach the international stage after playing Kim in the 1989 staging of Miss Saigon on London’s West End. Although it has been 25 years since she played Kim, the Tony award-winning actress gave her longtime fans a treat when she officially released a fresh, dance remix of the song from Miss Saigon, “The Last Night of the World,” last June 24 across all streaming platforms.

In her Instagram post, Lea wrote, “Music has always been about connection, love, and hope. 🌈

This Pride Month, I’m so happy to share the release of The Last Night of the World (Dance Version)—a new celebration of a song that has meant so much to so many over the years. Dance, celebrate, love freely, and stream now. ❤️🏳️‍🌈✨”

The new Pride remix version of the song was produced by Devin Lewis and remixed by Christopher Hewitt.

Lea also shared that those who help support the song will also be contributing to a worthy cause. She added, “Even more meaningful: proceeds from the song will benefit the ACLU and their ongoing work to protect the rights and freedoms of LGBTQ+ communities and all people.”

Last year, Lea talked to PEOPLE magazine in an exclusive interview about how she supported her only son, Nic, throughout his transition journey after he came out as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.

“Every child that comes into this world is different. You have to meet your kid where they are. As a parent, I want to set my child up for success. I want my child to feel safe and strong and ready to conquer the world on their own terms. Parenting doesn’t come without expectations. Homework needs to get done… I'm glad that this kid can cook and do his own laundry and doesn't forget to feed the cat! But really, the one thing that I've learned is that you have to raise your child the way your child needs to be raised.”

Apart from her newly released single, Lea is also one of the international artists featured in the soundtrack on Dreamworks Animation's upcoming film Forgotten Island along with H.E.R., BINI, and KATSEYE leader Sophia Laforteza.
