From representing the Philippines on the international stage to exploring opportunities in television, Miss Earth Philippines 2025 Joy Barcoma is embracing a year of growth, purpose, and new possibilities.
In an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN during the Because She Can: Preventive Health for a Thriving Future-A Women’s Health roundtable event, Joy expressed gratitude to fans and netizens who supported her.
“Never expected any of it but I’m so grateful that I get to experience these things. What I’m most grateful for is the support of the people because if it weren’t from them, it will never be possible for me,” Joy said.
The beauty queen said that the support she has received from fans continues to motivate her as she takes on new opportunities.
“All my appreciation goes out to the people who believes in me and all the people who decided that I’m worthy of their support because after all, kahit naman gaano kalakas ang boses, kahit gaano nation gamitin ‘yung plataporma natin, if no one listening to us, it will all go to waste,” Joy added.
Still, she encouraged others not to be afraid of using their voices, saying: “But then again, don’ t be afraid. Don’t to be tired of using your platform because lagi’t laging may makikinig, lagi’t laging mayroong makakakita.”
Since representing the country in Miss Earth, Joy has remained active in the public eye. Most recently, she celebrated another milestone after being announced as part of a television program.
When asked whether she sees herself pursuing more opportunities on television, Joy said she remains open to exploring different paths.
“I am open to everything. I like trying new things. I like going out of my comfort zone and I’m very adventurous as a person, so if I feel I can do it, I will do it. That’s one thing I am sure of. I am open to working with everybody and anybody,” she stated.
Among the personalities she hopes to work with one day, Joy named Kapamilya host and Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda.
“I feel like it’s going to be Meme Vice. I love her wisdom and I like her influence and I feel like magkakasundo kami sa humor. I have worked with her pero hindi pa kami nakakapagusap. Soon. Cross fingers,” Joy said.
Meanwhile, Joy also spoke about how using her platform is a way to engage in meaningful conversations and advocate for causes she believes in.
“More than being a form of entertainment for me, I make sure that I utilize it. Long before pa naman I became a beauty queen or influencer, if I may call myself that, I have already been using my platform for voicing out my opinions, my insights about things,” she said.
“It's also a way for me to learn more from other people, learn more from these things, learn more from the community and also at the same time share my knowledge to the people. So, education and entertainment,” Joy continued.
Joy has become known for openly sharing her views on social issues and advocating for positive change, which she also showcased during her Miss Earth Philippines journey.
As she is about to pass her crown to the next Miss Earth Philippines, Joy has this to say: “I’m not gonna tell you to follow in my footsteps. I’m gonna tell you to carve your own path, and you make sure that you are worthy of the crown. That’s the most important part of it. I won't recommend that you follow my footsteps because I believe that you can create your own path, you can create your own legacy.”
“But, always, always remember that you are not just carrying the crown with you, but you are also carrying the legacy that came with it and you are carrying a purpose with it,” she continued.
