Actress and former beauty queen Megan Young gave a gentle reminder to pageant fans to give more grace towards beauty queens, especially during the question-and-answer segment. The former Miss World titleholder shared how pressuring and challenging it is to be the one on stage where all eyes are on you during her recent guest appearance on Bianca Gonzalez’s Paano Ba ‘To podcast

Megan is the only Miss World Philippines to have won the Miss World title to date.

The former beauty queen then shared that she wouldn’t have changed her answer even if she was given the chance. She explained how she still believes in the winning answer she gave.

“You know what, I wouldn’t change anything kasi I truly believe up until this day [that] when you have your core values intact, then you can start being a better person –– you’re more aware of your surroundings, you’re more aware of your actions, and hindi ka bara-bara lang kumilos o magsalita,” she said.

“Once you have those core values, I feel like everything will be good for you na,” she added.

In the same interview, she then shared how different it is to be the candidate answering the question as compared to someone watching on their television or in the live audience.

“Whenever I watch the pageant or any other pageant, I always think–– how would I have answered this question kaya at this moment. But then you hear the winner’s answer and you’re like, she’s a winner. We can only answer as good as we can in that moment–– we’re not put under pressure just like the people on stage. So it’s gonna be different for anyone who’s in front of the camera and then from somebody who’s watching back at home,” she explained.

As someone who hosts and judges local pageants, Megan reminded audiences to give grace to the contestants, as it’s already difficult trying to find the words for a winning answer.

“Ang hirap ah. The fact that you have your country’s name on a sash, that’s already enough pressure in itself. So, chill lang kayo pag dating sa mga candidates natin, they’re trying their best guys,” she said.

“One thing that we always remind the viewers or the people that are watching there at the stadium is to give them grace–– wag kayong maingay pag sumasagot, wag kanchawan kasi ang hirap talaga maging nasa position nila,” she ended.
