Anne Hathaway revealed that she was "legally blind" in one eye for ten years due to early-onset cataract.
In an interview on Popcast of The New York Times, the actress opened up about her eye condition and how it affected her vision from the age of 30 to 40.
"This is maybe too much information. I was half blind for 10 years," she disclosed.
Anne shared that the cataracts severely affected the vision in her left eye. "It impacted my vision so much that I was basically legally blind out of my left eye. And I wound up getting surgery and I didn't realize how bad it had gotten until I could finally see the full spectrum."
The actress added that she later realized how much the condition had been affecting her overall well-being. "I've calmed down since then. I didn't realize it was actually taxing my nervous system."
Anne also reflected on how the experience made her more grateful for her eyesight.
"I appreciate vision because I literally feel like every day, I wake up and I get to see the way that I do, it's a miracle. I actually am like, 'Oh, two generations back, that wouldn't have been an option for someone like me.' So, I actually do feel very connected to that kind of a miracle," she remarked.
According to Mayo Clinic, cataract is "a clouding of the lens of the eye, which is typically clear. For people who have cataracts, seeing through cloudy lenses is often like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window."
Anne recently starred in The Devil Wears Prada 2, reprising her role as Andy Sachs, the former assistant to Runway editor Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep.
In a previous interview with Fandango, Anne spoke about how Andy’s fashion sense has evolved since the original film.
"One of the joys of the first film was the fact that Nigel (Stanley Tucci) comes in and kind of takes Andy into a magic closet and what comes out is this reborn fashionista," she said.

The actress explained that Andy’s wardrobe in the sequel reflects the character’s maturity and life experiences.
"The thing that's different about this one is nobody wants to suspend disbelief for a second. People want you to earn your truth, so we made sure that we did. And so Andy has the closet of someone who worked at Runway in her 20s and then had a job where she traveled all over the world where there are consignment shops. So, Andy's been shopping consignment and so she looks cute and her choices are expensive and they're curated for her, by her. And I think Andy lives at the corner of like practical and fabulous," she highlighted.
