Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano shared their gratitude for each other as they pause their journey as a love team following their decision to put it on hold indefinitely after “Tayo sa Wakas.”
The Kapamilya talents previously announced the romance drama will be their last project together for now.
“I am so grateful and so blessed I got to spend these last years with you. I would not have it any other day. Thank you,” Pangilinan said during the film’s media conference held in Quezon City on Saturday.
“I just want to say, thank you so much. I just want to say thank you so much for the journey. For just being there, for the support,” Mariano added,
Pangilinan shared he is also very proud of how much Mariano has grown.
“If they ask anyone here, I have really seen you grow since we met. I will always look up to you figuratively,” he said.
Mariano echoed the sentiment.
“I respect you so much. Ngayon pa lang malayo ka na, pero malayo ka pa. I am so proud of the man you are now,” she noted.
According to Pangilinan, while they are temporarily putting a pin in their tandem, he will always have Mariano’s back.
“We may not be working with each other in the near future, but I will always be here,” he explained.
“Tayo sa Wakas,” written by Vanessa Valdez and directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana, follows two lovers at a crossroads in their relationship as they decide whether to stay together or finally let go.
“It is about a long-time couple who are going on a road trip they once agreed upon noong masaya pa sila—that they will take a break up trip, kung gusto na nila magkahiwalay. They will determine at the end of the trip if the relationship is worth saving,” Valdez said.
“Simply put it is a journey of two people who loved, got hurt, and eventually found themselves, and found love again. Just like how I envisioned all my films, you will come out of cinemas wanting to love and love life again. No matter how panget the journey was, we will always choose love,” Garcia-Sampana described.
“Tayo sa Wakas” will hit Philippine cinemas nationwide on May 27. The film is also set to premiere globally.
“This film will give you kilig, falling in love, but it includes the pain, mga mali. They are flawed characters just like we are. But at the end of the day what is important is they realize the flaws and bring change so they become better. This is a story for everybody, not just the young or old, para sa lahat ng gusto magmahal at nagmamahal,” the director teased.
