Kapuso host and broadcaster Kim Atienza shared how his healing process is through “finding purpose” in life. In the latest Bare It All Podcast episode by Dani Barretto, the celebrity father opened up about his life several months after his daughter, Emman Atienza, passed away.
Emman passed away last October 2025, which was announced by the family on their social media accounts

“I heal by finding purpose,” he revealed.
Kim shared how people on social media would ask him how he does it and how he’s able to help other people despite the challenges that he’s going through personally.
“But you know, I find joy in being able to reach out. My prayer every morning [is] Lord, give me one person. Just one person to reach out to today–– I may save or not save that person but give me that just one person. One person a day and you know sometimes, I get two or three,” he explained.
He recalled how a fan reached out to him and how they went out for coffee to have a quick chat. It was only then she revealed that she was depressed and about to end her life if it weren’t for the Kapuso star’s response that day.
“What are the odds [na] makita ko yung message? It also makes us aware of the power of celebrities. We might take it for granted–– it’s only one reply but you know these kids, they look up to us because they grew up with us. That reply by a celebrity could actually save a life,” he said.

In the same interview, Kim shared that he believed that parents also learn more about parenthood as time goes by.
“Both ways–– ang ibang parents, they harden and they insist on what they know. But some parents are flexible–– I learned the hard way because Emman passed away. To parents who are listening, you don’t have to learn the hard way,” he expressed.
“Kids nowadays are not like us. They have different needs, there are different factors that affect their minds so therefore, hindi madadala sa pilit, hindi madadaan sa palo, hindi madadaan sa wag kang maarte–– maraming paraan,” he added.
He then hoped that people who are undergoing difficult times in their lives would remember the good times and their purpose.
“Six months ago when this was new, whenever I would remember, I would just be broken and I would cry. Now, sometimes I cry, but oftentimes, I look back, and I remember the good memories,” he expressed.
“I remember the good memories and I know that there's a purpose. Knowing that there’s a purpose makes it less and less as impactful but it will always be there. That’s how I cope. Find your purpose in it,” he ended.
