The Pitt's Fil-Am actress Isa Briones is shedding light on the realities behind her rise in the entertainment industry, recalling her childhood shaped not by instant success but by years of sacrifice and perseverance alongside her family.
Born into a family of performers, Isa is the older sister of actor and musician, Teo Briones, who made waves in 2025 as the lead of the horror film Final Destination: Bloodlines. Her father, Jon Jon Briones, is a Filipino veteran theater actor known internationally for his work in the original 1989 London production of Miss Saigon. Meanwhile, her mother, Megan Johnson Briones, is an American actress whom her father met while she was performing as Ellen in the 1994 German production of Miss Saigon.

In an episode of the podcast The Squeeze hosted by Tay Lautner, Isa reflected on the years her family spent navigating uncertainty while chasing a dream. She recalled how her father, whom she credits much of her foundation to, left the Philippines at a young age in pursuit of opportunities abroad, a decision that came with immense challenges.
“He left the Philippines when he was 23. For so long, it was just like ‘Is this even worth it? Do I go home?’ We all got to struggle together for probably a decade. My dad was a massage therapist as well, my mother got her realtor’s license and [were] just trying to keep us afloat while also still pursuing that dream,” she shared, painting a picture of perseverance behind the scenes.
Looking back, Isa expressed deep gratitude for witnessing firsthand the sacrifices her parents made which grounded her perspective on success and fame.
“They were so scared to pass that life on to us, but thank God that was what I grew up with. I didn’t enter just like success and fame...I got to really see the hard work that goes into it,” she said.
“I think that really tests you to be like, ‘Do you actually want to do this?’ If you’re going to do this, it means [that] you really love it and you love the ‘working’ at it,” Isa added.
Years later, that dedication has come full circle. Back in March, Isa walked the red carpet of the 32nd Annual Actors Awards alongside her father. During the event, Isa along with the cast of The Pitt, took home the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.
The experience was surreal for the actress, saying: “Before The Pitt, I’d never been to an awards show. I kept just stopping and looking at my dad...The fact that now I get to be a part of a show that I’m employed for multiple seasons, it has reached this height that people love it, that people know who I am now. That’s not even a thing that I was striving towards. It was just like, I hope I can do what I love and pay the bills.”
During the red-carpet moment, Isa became emotional as she reflected on what the recognition meant not just for her, but for her family’s journey as immigrants.
“It’s something I never in my wildest dreams thought I could say. I mean, I’m the daughter of an immigrant. I’m here and I have my dad with me and it’s just the most special,” she shared at the time.
It was in February when she moved audiences after performing the Hiligaynon lullaby “Ili-Ili, Tulog Anay” in a powerful episode of the Emmy-winning medical series, earning praise from viewers who celebrated the representation of Filipino culture in an international production.
Continuing her artistic evolution, Isa recently stepped into the spotlight this month as she made her stage comeback in the musical Just in Time, where she portrays pop icon Connie Francis.
