Jodi Sta. Maria opened up about how her dynamic with her son, Thirdy, has evolved now that he is 20 years old.
"Siyempre when he was younger naiintindihan ko na 'yung pagiging dependent niya sa akin because of course I'm the mother, di ba? But now nandun na siya sa point ng life niya that he is trying to find his place in the sun," the actress shared in an interview with Boy Abunda.
Jodi added that Thirdy is now more independent, saying: "Meron na siyang of course 'yung parang meron na siyang mga peers niya, mabibilang mo lang naman sa kamay niya. Most of his days are spent outside of home because he goes to school, he is in university na rin."
Despite these changes, she said their dynamic remains the same as mother and son.
"I think kung meron mang isang bagay na hindi nagbabago is I think 'yung relationship naming dalawa na hindi kami mag best friend pero more of nanay-anak," he said.
According to Jodi, their conversations have also matured over time, shifting from casual interests to more meaningful discussions about life.
"Iba na ang conversations namin ngayon, hindi na 'to tungkol sa NBA. Hindi na 'to tungkol sa games sa playstation. It is more of we have conversations about life. He asks about how to set goals in life," she said.

The actress also appreciates how open Thirdy is with her, even when it comes to personal matters like his love life.
"What I appreciate about Thirdy, he is very open and alam ko 'pag meron siyag gustong imungkahi or idulog sa akin. Lagi niya sasabihin, 'Mama, gawa tayo ng pizza.' 'Pag sinabi niya na sa akin na, 'Mama, gawa tayo ng pizza,' alam kong meron siyang, sabihin nating isang desisyon na kailangan niyang gawin. Pag-uusapan namin habang gumagawa kami ng pizza sa bahay," she said.
Thirdy is Jodi's son with ex-husband, Pampi Lascon.
