A lawyer representing Blackpink member Jisoo has denied that the K-pop megastar is involved with a family member accused of sexual assault, South Korean media reported.
The development follows reports that a man believed to be Jisoo's brother was arrested on allegations of sexually assaulting a streamer and was also accused of domestic violence against his wife.
"The matter currently being raised is entirely unrelated to the artist and BLISSOO," lawyer Eun Hyun-ho said, referring to Jisoo and her solo activities agency, which he represents.
"Much of the information circulating online consists of unverified speculation or clearly false claims," Eun said in a statement that was published in full by K-pop news website Soompi.
Eun noted that Jisoo "began her trainee life at a young age and has lived independently for many years, apart from her family."
"As such, she is not in a position to be aware of or involved in the private matters of the individual in question," he said.
The lawyer also reportedly denied claims that BLISSOO was "co-founded" by Jisoo and the family member under police investigation, adding that the latter is not involved in running the company.
"At no point — then or now — have family members received compensation from BLISSOO or participated in any management or decision-making processes," Eun said, adding that the agency "has been operated entirely independently, without any involvement from family members."
"Furthermore, neither BLISSOO nor the artist has provided any financial or legal support to the individual, nor do they have any plans to do so in the future. The artist also has no communication or involvement with the individual regarding this matter," he added.
Jisoo's lawyer also warned that legal action would be taken against those creating and spreading false information.
Jisoo debuted in 2016 as a member of Blackpink, one of K-pop's most successful girl groups, known for hit songs like 'DDU-DU DDU-DU," "Kill This Love" and "Shut Down."
The group made a comeback in February with the extended play "Deadline," which spawned the singles "Jump" and "Go."
Jisoo has also pursued a solo music career and expanded into acting, most recently headlining Netflix's romantic comedy "Boyfriend on Demand."
