PLDT Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer Menardo “Butch” Jimenez Jr. has shared a message of support for ABS-CBN following the network’s release of an official statement addressing recent claims and issues involving the Lopez family dispute.
Butch is the son of former GMA Network President and major shareholder Menardo Jimenez Sr.
In a Facebook post on April 17, Butch took time to reflect on ABS-CBN’s role in Philippine media and public service. A photo posted alongside his message showed the Jimenez family with ABS-CBN President and Chief Executive Officer Carlo L. Katigbak.

“While I will not comment on the corporate intramurals between the Lopez families most of which are personal friends of ours on all sides, I will have to share a thought on ABS-CBN,” he began.
Despite decades of industry competition, Butch emphasized respect for the network’s public service legacy.
“Notwithstanding the fact that we have been competitors for decades, our family has always acknowledged and appreciated the service ABS-CBN has provided to the Filipino people.”
He went on to underscore the importance of ABS-CBN’s role beyond business performance and financial metrics.
“In my humble opinion, their existence cannot be measured only by pesos and profit. They may have lost a lot, but the Filipinos they serve have gained much more,” Butch maintained.
He ended his message with a brief note of encouragement for the company’s leadership and workforce, stating: “God speed to Team Kapamilya.”
The post quickly drew attention online, with friends, colleagues, and followers expressing appreciation for his message of support despite long-standing industry competition.
“Business competition is different from personal or family relationship. If taken professionally, families will stay friends forever Butch Jimenez ❤️🌠,” one wrote.
Bantay Bata 163 Executive Director Ernie Lopez also responded with gratitude, writing, “Maraming salamat for your kind words of support Butch Jimenez ❤️💚💙,” to which Butch replied, “you and the whole family deserve it, bro. A small and heartfelt contribution to the immense service your family has done for the country.”
Following ABS-CBN’s official statement on the recent issues involving the Lopez family dispute, several public figures and celebrities also voiced support for the company. Among them were Melai Cantiveros, BINI, Bianca Gonzalez, Robi Domingo, Shaina Magdayao, Regine Velasquez, and Ogie Alcasid, among others.
ABS-CBN’s board of directors and advisers have likewise expressed support for CEO Carlo, reaffirming confidence in the company’s leadership and its ongoing efforts to strengthen its financial position and public service mission.
