ABS-CBN News reporter Karen De Guzman took to social media to reflect on her journey, leading her to work with her idol, Karen Davila.
Davila recently made headlines after making a blooper during a live telecast of TV Patrol when she introduced De Guzman as "Karen Davila" for a news report.
On her Facebook page, De Guzman wrote: "Who would have thought that a simple fangirl would one day work alongside her idol? 🥹♥️"
Looking back on her journey, she recounted how she met Davila for the first time.
"I first saw Ms. Karen Davila during a college seminar in 2015. I was just one of the many quiet students in the audience. Nakikinig at nangangarap na balang araw, maging kagaya niya rin," she recalled. "Later, I became an intern at ABS-CBN News. Naalala ko pa, naghihintay ako sa labas ng ANC studio para lang makapagpa-picture sa kanya. That alone already felt like a dream come true," she stated.
She relayed that she continued to fangirl over Davila even when she already started working at ABS-CBN.
"In 2016, I worked as a researcher for one of the programs. Fangirl pa rin ako noon at nagpa-autograph pa ako sa kanya nung na-feature siya sa isang magazine. Looking back now, it makes me smile how big of an inspiration she has always been to me," she stated.
Later, De Guzman, who was named after the TV Patrol anchor, became a reporter for ABS-CBN News and recalled a special moment she shared with Davila. "Fast forward to 2022, I finally became a reporter. One of the things that secretly made me happiest was getting to banter with Ms. Karen on-air. It felt surreal every single time," she said.

She said that the recent blooper of Davila became a way for them to connect more behind-the-camera.
"At ngayon, hindi na lang siya iniidolo ko sa TV, katrabaho ko na siya. Funny enough, it even took her viral blooper for us to have more chances to talk and connect beyond the camera. Dreams do come true. And sometimes, they happen in ways you never imagined," she said.
