Before the vows, there was a beginning – one rooted in friendship and quiet moments away from the spotlight.

2016: The Start of LoiNie’s Friendship
It all began almost “by chance” when LoiNie first crossed paths on the set of It’s Showtime — Ronnie as part of Hashtags since 2015 and Loisa debuting with GirlTrends a year later. What at first was a simple meet-and-greet as work acquaintances slowly grew into a friendship. According to their own recollections, it was Ronnie who mustered up the courage to ask Loisa out for a meal after one of their noontime appearances. Loisa admitted that even then she already had a small crush on him.
2017: LoiNie Denies Dating Rumors
As they continued to work together on variety shows, TV guestings, and movie projects, fans began noticing their frequent sweet moments and small glimpses of closeness. But in 2017, when dating rumors started swirling, Ronnie denied everything on national TV in an interview with Boy Abunda. He said they were just close friends, not a couple. Loisa echoed the sentiment at the Star Magic Ball 2017, explaining at that time that they were focused on their careers, although she conceded that Ronnie held a “special” place in her life.

2018: LoiNie Confirms their Relationship from Reel to Real
That all changed in December 2018. During a livestream episode of the show iWant ASAP, host Robi Domingo asked Ronnie point-blank if Loisa was his girlfriend. To everyone’s surprise, Ronnie answered, “Aba’y, oo naman!” The studio erupted in applause, and just like that, their relationship was official.
The couple did not only confirm it once, but thrice, as they proudly shared on Kapamilya shows Gandang Gabi Vice and Tonight with Boy Abunda that they had been together for two years.
"Dalawang taon na," Ronnie told the show's host Vice Ganda.
"Masayang-masaya siyempre," said Loisa.
Shortly after that confirmation, Loisa herself posted a confirmation on X (formerly Twitter):
Their joint projects also soared that year as they both starred in the horror-comedy film Da One That Ghost Away, with Loisa as the young Canturzia and Ronnie in a special role as Isagani.

From then on, their love-team persona “LoiNie” was no longer just an onscreen thing, fans were watching a real romance blossom. They starred in several projects together like Wansapanataym Presents: Gelli In A Bottle and 2018 Metro Manila Film Festival fantasy-comedy film Fantastica, giving kilig to audiences not just onscreen but through glimpses of real life offscreen.
