Bianca Umali began 2026 on a reflective note as she shared that the new year opened with a health scare that made her pause and look at life from a different perspective.

In an Instagram post on January 16, the actress uploaded a series of black-and-white photos that hinted at what she had gone through. One showed a close-up of her arm with an intravenous (IV) line in her arm, another captured her resting in bed with an eye cover on, while a third image displayed several medicines laid out together.

“This is how my 2026 started - with health scares that stopped me in my tracks and quietly opened my eyes in ways nothing else ever could,” Bianca began.

“It made me pause, reflect, and look at life a little differently moving forward.”

She chose not to disclose the specific details of the health scare, explaining that some things were better kept private, especially those that are personal and might be uncomfortable for others.

She reassured her followers of her current condition, saying,  “What is important is this: I am well. I am better. And I’m slowly getting back into the groove.”

The actress also acknowledged how easily health can be taken for granted, especially for someone who is constantly on the go.

“I’ve always been a workaholic - someone who loves what she does, who shows up fully, who pushes through and keeps going even when the body is quietly asking for rest,” she shared.

Bianca said she became more aware of how much she had been carrying, from the fast pace of her work to personal responsibilities she rarely talks about. Over time, she realized these factors contributed to her health decline, even affecting her ability to cope and her eating habits. She reflected on how gradually, these pressures caught up with her in ways she did not immediately notice.

She also admitted that while she is attentive to the needs of others, she often forgets to extend the same care to herself.

“I realized how good I am at taking care of the people around me - showing up, worrying, loving deeply - while often forgetting to take care of myself. Somewhere along the way, I learned to be strong for everyone else, but not always gentle with my own body and mind.”

Now on the path to recovery, the actress shared that she is focusing on rebuilding her strength, not just for herself but also for the people she loves.

“Now, I’m working on getting stronger again - not just for myself, but for the people I love. Because showing up for them also means showing up for me,” she said.

The experience taught her important lessons about rest and self-care, saying that “choosing yourself is not selfish”. As the year began, Bianca made a promise to herself to put her health first.

“So this year, I’m making a promise to myself:

I will take good care of my health.

I will listen sooner.

I will slow down when needed.

And I will remember that health should always be at the top of all priorities.”

She also shared a reminder to others to take care of themselves as well, encouraging everyone to rest when needed and choose what truly nourishes them, noting that “health is wealth.”

Following her post, fans and friends from the entertainment industry quickly filled the comments section with messages of support and well wishes for her recovery. Bianca closed her post by expressing gratitude to the people who stood by her during the difficult time, thanking her boyfriend, actor Ruru Madrid, and her sister, Jana.

“To my mahal @rurumadrid8 and my sister @janaang, thank you 2 for taking extra extra extra good care of me. I love you both so very much!”
