Janella Salvador has added a new tattoo to her collection, and it carries another special meaning.
In an exclusive chat with PUSH ABS-CBN, the actress opened up about the story behind her latest ink.
“First time may magtanong. This is my Jude tattoo. It's from Spirited Away. Medyo nabura na siya. Pero it's from Spirited Away. Ito ‘yung parang hamster saka ‘yung maliit na bird,” she fondly revealed.
She shared that this simple tattoo represents her bond with her son Jude, who is a huge fan of the animated film.
“Kaya ko lang siya pina-tattoo kasi I wanted this jelly tattoo that reminded me of Jude. Eh favorite film niya ‘to last year. Favorite film niya ‘yung Spirited Away,” she added.
Janella couldn’t help but smile when asked about Jude’s reaction upon seeing the design: “Napa-smile siya siyempre. As in natuwa siya. Kasi nga favorite niya ‘yung film na ‘to.”
Meanwhile, Janella has been gracefully balancing motherhood with her thriving career, as she takes on back-to-back projects including the upcoming Cinemalaya film Open Endings and the much-awaited thriller series What Lies Beneath.
The singer-actress admitted that her upcoming teleserye is one of the most challenging projects she has taken on.
“Mas challenging pa rin for me pag medyo mabigat yung project. Honestly, dito sa What Lies Beneath, nacha-challenge talaga ako nito. It's really pushing me. Kaya siguro din ako pagod ngayon kasi talagang lahat kami, apat kami, napu-push talaga ‘yung limits namin as an actress dito sa show na ‘to,” she said.
Janella added that while the project was intense, it was also deeply fulfilling, knowing how much effort they all poured into it.
“Medyo emotionally heavy siya. And draining siya pero fulfilling siya. Alam mong pinaghirapan talaga siya,” she shared.
In What Lies Beneath, Janella co-stars with Kaila Estrada, Sue Ramirez, and Charlie Dizon. The ensemble cast also includes JM de Guzman, Jake Cuenca, and Jameson Blake. The series will soon be available on television and various platforms.
Before that, Janella will first be seen in the Cinemalaya entry Open Endings, which starts screening on October 3.
