Supporting the fight against corruption? Gnarly.
Sophia Laforteza, the leader of rising multinational girl group KATSEYE, voiced her support for fellow Filipinos, just a day after thousands joined mass protests expressing outrage against alleged corruption in public works projects.
In her Instagram Stories, Laforteza said that while she could not attend the rallies, "I am listening, I am aware, and I stand with you."
"My heart is with my people. We all deserve a future built on truth, integrity and hope. Para sa ating bansa at para sa sambayanang Pilipino (For our country and for the Filipino people), we must always strive for what is just and fair," Laforteza said.
"We dream of a Philippines free from corruption, where accountability and compassion guide us forward," she added.
The singer also described the voice of the Filipino people as "powerful and unshakable."
On Sunday, thousands of Filipinos staged protests across the country, with key demonstrations held at the People Power Monument along EDSA and at Rizal Park in Manila, over a corruption scandal involving government officials and construction company owners linked to flood-control projects.

Laforteza, who is the daughter of theater actress Carla Guevara Laforteza, earned a spot in KATSEYE through the survival program "The Debut: Dream Academy."
The group, jointly managed by K-pop giant HYBE and Universal Music Group's Geffen Records, is known for songs such as "Touch," "Gnarly" and "Gabriela."
The group recently bagged the Push Performance of the Year prize at the MTV Video Music Awards for "Touch."

KATSEYE has also been announced as part of the lineup for the 2026 edition of the popular Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
