MANILA — From a small gathering of just a few attendees at his very first fan meet, River Joseph has come a long way. On Saturday, the actor was welcomed by a venue filled with fans from several different groups—something he admitted he never imagined at the start of his career.
River Joseph on living with his mom: 'It's my turn now to give back'
“Grabe, unang fan meet ko less than 30 lang pumunta. Every year palaki nang palaki. Finally today nagsama-sama. Dami na namin ngayon. Super grateful,” he shared in an interview during the meet and greet held in Quezon City.
The Pinoy Big Brother alum makes it a point to personally meet his fans yearly. Apart from thanking them, seeing familiar faces and hearing personal stories from his supporters has become a source of strength.
“Nakakataba sa puso. Kasi lahat dito may sariling laban at pinagdadaanan sa buhay—it is nice to hear may effect ako positively sa buhay nila. Grabe din kasi effect nila sakin, grabe inspiration,” he said.
'NEGATIVITY'
But with his rise in showbiz also comes criticism and negativity, particularly in the digital space—but he is learning to face his journey with maturity.
“Lagi ko sinasabi sa sarili ko, love your enemies. You can’t please everyone. May hindi susuporta sayo. I understand where they are coming from. And that is how life is. But I have no anger. I will just love them also,” he explained.
Beyond social media, Joseph said he treasures personal interactions more.
“Alam ko pangalan nila, story nila, kaya ibang iba sa social media. Mas ramdam mo pagmamahal and support. Nag-grow kami together,” he said. “Recharge ‘yung ganito, meeting fans, getting to know them—sila ang nagma-matter.”
MOVIE PROJECT
Looking ahead, Joseph is set to make his big-screen debut soon.
“May movie ako coming soon. First time ko sa movie,” he said.
He is also interested in doing a rom-com project in the near future.
"Sa lahat ng projects ko dati, never pa ako nagka love interest on-screen. I want to explore,” he revealed.
