The management of brothers Aljur and Vin Abrenica clarified to ABS-CBN that the alleged breach of contract, over their supposed failure to fulfill promotional duties for the film “Wild Boys,” stemmed from a miscommunication.
They added that the actors are set to participate in the next promotional activities and are now in communication with the film’s producer, Bright Ideas.
“While there is no issue working with Viva, the company was not mentioned in the contract, and they were unaware it would serve as the distributor. They added that no endorsement was made, and they were neither given a schedule nor informed that the distributor would be the one coordinating with them,” the management reiterated.
This comes after Bright Ideas revealed on Thursday they were considering to file a breach of contract case with damages against the Abrenica brothers, alleging their absence from key promotional activities — including the film’s premiere night.

According to the Atty. Noel Atienza, the lawyer representing the production, they were planning to send a demand letter on Friday, August 8, to give the Abrenica brothers an opportunity to clarify their side.
“To give them a chance to explain. 'Yung failures — number one, promotion. Nagkaroon ng premiere night. Ayoko mag-file right away without giving them the opportunity to explain. If they fail to explain, that is when we will file breech of contract with damages,” he said in an interview held after the film’s press conference in Quezon City, Thursday.
“Even in the absence of express statement, obligation to promote, dapat promote mo 'yun for the success of the movie. Walang response. Ayoko right away mag-file,” he added.
Atienza also alleged that they had exhausted all means to reach out to the Abrenica brothers.
“Walang response. All of those acts of producer of getting in touch. No response was given. Wala talaga from all aspects and possible tao tawagan,” he explained. “Siguro they need to comply with my demand to rectofy their failures. It is not too late for them to promote the movie. If the movie date is August 13, it is not too late.”
Management, however, maintained that the contract as well as the previous line of communication with them was unclear.
“Wild Boys” stars Aljur and Vin Abrenica, Nico Locco, Christian Ty, Rolando Inocencio, Cataleya Surio, Rash Flores, CJ Garcia, Kristof Garcia, Inday Garutay, and Atak Star. It will open in cinemas nationwide on August 13.
