Travis Kelce's father, Ed Kelce, opened up about how his son's proposal to Taylor Swift unfolded.
In an interview with the News 5 Cleveland, Ed shared that Travis proposed to Taylor "maybe two weeks, not quite two weeks ago" in a Missouri garden.
"He got her out there, they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, 'Let's go out and have a glass of wine,' … they got out there, and that's when he asked her, and it was beautiful,' Ed shared. "They started FaceTiming me and their mother and her folks to make sure everybody knew. So, to see them together is great."
Ed relayed that Travis was initially thinking of waiting to do the proposal until this week to "make some grand thing, to make it a big special event."
Ed then shared him a reminder: "I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event… when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you."
Travis and Taylor announced their engagement on Wednesday, August 27 (PH time) via social media. "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married," the social media post read.
In her TIME Magazine interview in December 2023 after being named 2023 Person of the Year, Taylor spoke about how their romance began, sharing it "all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell."
"We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other," Taylor relayed.
The "Blank Space" singer also pointed out that when she was first seen at a Kansas City Chiefs game in September, she and Travis were already in a relationship.
"I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date," Taylor highlighted.
