ABS-CBN's Head of TV Production Lauren Dyogi addressed long-standing speculation that he is "Kuya" of Pinoy Big Brother.
In an interview with Rico Hizon on ANC’s Beyond the Exchange, Lauren clarified that he is not the voice behind Big Brother.
"Ever since they've associated with me being Big Brother because I was the original producer naman talaga of Big Brother, but I cannot be. They say that my voice is the same as Kuya but I cannot be in the house 24/7 so it cannot be me," he pointed out.
In the same interview, the Kapamilya executive was asked about the key to the success and longevity of PBB, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this August.
"We are celebrating our 20th this August... Even our format owners are very happy that we are able to sustain a format like Big Brother for 20 years in spite of all with what happened with us, with the non-renewal of the franchise, and at the same time with the pandemic. Tayo we were able to consistently produce it. So why? I think there is a new audience na na-develop," he said.
He explained that the show’s enduring appeal lies in its authenticity and its cast of housemates.
"Tsaka nature natin chismoso tayo. Gusto natin nalalaman 'yung mga buhay-buhay ng mga tao and I think... yung format... siguro it's really appropriate na 'yung hinahanap ngayon nga mga manonood natin is authenticity and the concept of Big Brother is really bringing out the true and the authentic self of every housemate that is inside. I think key of Big Brother is really the set of housemates," he stated.
Lauren emphasized that casting is crucial for shows like PBB. "Critical talaga 'yung casting sa amin so I think if you continuously have interesting people to watch, the format will continue and continue to thrive on either on free TV and definitely on digital," he said.
