“She went there as a friend”
Actor Paolo Contis previously broke his silence after netizens spotted him with actress Yen Santos in Baguio in the past. He maintained that she was only there as a friend who was supporting him during a challenging time.
The two weren’t in a relationship during their Baguio trip as Paolo was previously with LJ Reyes at the time of the trip. Fast forward to several months after the controversial trip, Paolo confirmed his relationship with Yen through an interview with Boy Abunda.

“When LJ left for the States with the kids, I went to Baguio for 3 days dahil ayaw ko sa Manila at gusto kong makapag isip isip. Naging insensitive ako about the possible effects nung issue and I invited Yen for a day para may makausap since malapit lang siya sa North din. She went there as a friend. Hindi ko naisip na madadamay siya ng ganito. I’m sorry for this,” he previously shared.
Paolo then assured the public that Yen had nothing to do with his separation with LJ and maintained that their relationship wasn’t doing well already.
“Somehow, medyo matagal na kaming hindi okay ni LJ. Pero we were together of course. Napapadalas yung away and everything, I think it’s a combination of the stress sa pandemic. One of my biggest mistakes was hindi ko inalala yung mental health ni LJ, isa yun sa feeling ko naging simula ng downfall namin,” Paolo explained.

In May of 2024, Yen would then delete her posts on Instagram–– fueling the curiosity of their fans. The actor was also asked about the real status of their relationship during a premiere night for one of his films.
“No comment! As I always say, masyado na kayong may alam sa buhay ko so I’d like to keep my personal life personal,” he previously maintained.
Fast forward to 2025, Yen came out with her first-ever vlog where she narrated how happy she was to get out of a relationship. She didn’t disclose who she was talking about but her last known partner was Paolo.
“Napakalaking blessing na natapos na yun. Malaking blessing na nagising na ako sa nightmare na yun and I walked away kasi hindi talaga worth it,” Yen expressed.
Since then, Yen has been vocal about not making any "trips to Baguio" anytime in the near future with what happened with her in the past.
