Food content creator Ninong Ry was among those affected by the recent torrential rains in Luzon brought by the habagat or southwest monsoon.
On Tuesday, July 22, Ninong Ry took to Facebook to share photos of the kitchen and living room of his home in Malabon, which had been submerged in floodwaters.
"Heto na naman tayo. Stay safe mga inaanak. Makakaahon din tayo. Laban lang," he wrote in the caption.
Fans were quick to send their well wishes and messages of support for the content creator.
"Stay safe po ninong," one fan commented.
On Monday, July 21, Ninong Ry also posted a reminder to his followers amid the heavy rains. "Mga inaanak stay safe tayo sobrang taas ng baha at lakas ng ulan. Charge na kayo ng mga dapat i=charge kasi usually nagba-brown out ng ganito. Iwasan nyo na din munang umalis ng bahay kung di naman masyadong kailangan," he wrote on Facebook.
"Ako, bilang tiga Malabon, meron nang sense of acceptance mga bagay na masisira at mawawala tuwing gantong panahon. Tandaan natin na ang mga materyal na bagay ay maaari namang mapalitan pero ang buhay ay hindi na. Ingat tayo lahat! Gabayan tayo ng panginoon," he added.
Back in July 2024, Ninong Ry's house was also flooded during Typhoon Carina.
According to PAGASA, the habagat intensified on Monday, bringing more rain across large parts of the country. The weather bureau was also monitoring a low-pressure area off Luzon, which had a “medium” chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
The habagat was expected to bring heavy rains over Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro, while Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Benguet, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Oriental Mindoro were also expected to experience occasional rain.
"Itong pag-ulan na inaasahan natin ngayong araw sa mga nabanggit na lugar ay posible pa rin po itong mag-cause ng mga baha at landslide po sa mga bulubunduking lugar," PAGASA weather forecaster Ana Clauren Jordan said in an interview with DZMM.
