Kapamilya actor Esynr was quick to answer why he would often speak Tagalog rather than Bisaya. In an interview with King of Talk Boy Abunda earlier this week, the Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition housemate explained the reason for it and maintained that he is still proud to speak Bisaya.

Esnyr was born in Davao del Sur where the language mostly spoken by its residents is Bisaya.

He shared how speaking Tagalog was his way to widen his audience and it’s what people are used to hearing him speak. Some netizens alleged that Esnyr wasn’t speaking enough Bisaya during his time inside the PBB house.

The How to Spot a Red Flag star shut down the rumors in the interview and maintained that there were moments he would speak the language to his fellow housemates who speak the language as well –– Charlie Fleming, AZ Martinez, and Shuvee Etrata.

“Mas mostly nagta-Tagalog ako kasi ito ‘yung nakasanayan ng mga tao na nanunuod sa akin. Nagta-Tagalog ako sa content ko and it’s my way din to widen my audience,” he shared.

“Kumbaga, ako na ‘yung nagadjust para hindi na mapagod ‘yung mga writers na magsulat ng subtitles,” he quipped.

Esnyr then recalled one instance while he was inside the PBB house that he was speaking Bisaya the whole time. It was when his father paid them a visit during the final weeks of their stint in PBB.

“Pero, sa mga serious times lalo na nuoong nandoon ‘yung papa ko, nag-Bisaya ako ‘yung whole conversation namin,” he expressed.

For the Kapamilya actor, he remains proud of where he was born and assured his fans that he will be speaking the language more often, especially now knowing that they’re waiting for him to speak it.

“I carry my roots talaga. All the time, dal–dala ko sila. I’m proud to be Bisaya. Siguro babawi ako dito sa outside world. It’s something na shinare ko talaga sa buong mundo na hindi talaga nila alam na Bisaya ako. I’m proud talaga,” he ended.

Meanwhile, Esnyr recently guested on Melai Cantiveros’ show, Kuan on One, where he freely spoke the language during the whole duration of the program. The video has already amassed more than 1.9 million views on YouTube as of writing.
