Last May, Dimples Romana headlined the much lauded Maalaala Mo Kaya Mother’s Day episode which featured the life of the Maguad siblings where she played the role of the mother, public school teacher Lovella Maguad. The talented actress said she will always look back on her performance with gratitude.

“Until today, I could not believe how viral and trending it became. When we did that story, I knew na kahit anong gawin kong pag-arte, it would never equate to the pain that Mrs. and Mr. Maguad feel. But what I could do as a storyteller is to help the audience feel even a portion of that pain, so they would develop empathy and compassion,“ she said.

“It was such a good thing that MMK was able to tell that story — no other show could have done it better. I’m so grateful to the Maguad family, for allowing us to honor the memory of Gwen and Boyboy. Their story resonated with everyone,” she continued. "It reminded us that even when you give so much, it can still be taken from you. Sabi nga ni Mrs. Maguad, they may have taken their children, but not their humanity. When you have a kind heart, anything is possible.”

After being introduced as the “Pambansang Kumare” during the Mega Prime Foods’ 50 Mega Years anniversary event, Dimples admitted she has no big secret to her successful career in the industry.

”I guess there’s really no secret. The secret is just being present. To always show up for people. It doesn’t matter if you know them or not. A little act of kindness can go a long way. Si sir William Tiu Lim (Mega Prime Foods Chairman) recounted in his speech all the people who helped them along the way. Ako rin ganun. I acknowledge the people who do good to me, and even those who hurt me. In life, when you acknowledge blessings—even if they don’t come as they seem—you develop a heart that’s grateful for all that’s coming your way.

"The reason I’m 'kumare' to many is because I relate to everyone. I always treat people equally. Tao sa tao. That goes not just for bosses or owners, but also for those who helped them build the company,” she explained.

As one Mega Prime Foods’ celebrity ambassadors, Dimples said she considered their partnership a blessing.

“I’m so grateful. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of a company that has been growing for many decades already. At para ma-witness ko at maging parte ako ng 50 years — imagine, that’s not very easy to do. And kanina nga eh, while sinese-serve van, they were saying how they built the company. Narealize ko, napakaswerte ko. Sobrang blessed ko na maging parte ng event na ito at ng pamilyang ito,” she added.
