Five years have passed since James Reid last appeared as an actor on television. While he maintained a steady presence in the music scene, the fans are eagerly awaiting his return to the field of acting.
During the Fête de la Musique Philippines Main Stage 2025 last Saturday, June 21, the actor-musician, who was one of the event’s headliners, shared some great news with PUSH ABS-CBN.
“Well, they’ll [fans] be happy to know I’m coming back this year. We’ll be shooting this year, with plans to release it also this year,” he said.
Details regarding his comeback project were not disclosed, but he expressed his excitement in the exclusive interview.
“I’m not sure if I’m allowed to say that but definitely, we’re shooting this year,” he said. “We have a script, we have a story, and we have a cast. I’m very excited to announce it but not yet.”
“I can’t really say who I’m working with now, but I think the fans will be very surprised,” he added.
James, who took a pause in acting since 2020, shared in his previous interviews that music was one of the reasons he decided to temporarily quit acting.
“I think I really had to switch to music at that time,” he said. “It really helped me with everything that I was going through personally. It gave me the time that I needed to focus on my first love which is music, and to write songs.”
The actor-musician, who has been busy elevating his music career, further shared how his passion helped him overcome what he was going through.
“Making songs is like therapy to me,” he said. “I learn so [many] things and I get to write about all the things I learned about life, love and relationships and put it in a song as a reminder. It really helped me a lot in life. I needed to do it.”

Now gearing up for his much-anticipated comeback, James shared about a passion project that he is looking forward to as an actor.
“Something around music, I think it would be very fun,” he said when asked about a particular film genre that he wants to explore in the future.
“Not really a musical but with music. Something around music that I can write a song; I can also sing. I think that would be very fun. That would be a passion project for me,” he said.
