Joyce Pring’s 18-year-old self is probably the happiest now that she has fulfilled her dream of obtaining a college degree.
She is set to graduate from the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA, with a degree in Communication.
In an inspiring Instagram post on Friday, June 13, Joyce proudly shared how determined she was to put an end to her 15-year college journey, despite having an already established career in the media.
The TV host began by recalling how passionate she was with her studies growing up as an academic achiever, saying: “I’ve always loved learning.”
But the dreamer in her was crushed when she had to quit school to make a living.
“A few semesters into what should have been my university years, financial and family instability made it apparent that I could no longer continue my schooling — I had to immediately start working,” she recalled.
“I had big dreams, and I wanted to finish school. I was tired of constantly having to grow up so fast, in order to cope with the constant chaos that enveloped my life... but I had to adapt in order to survive,” she added.
The concept "diploma o diskarte" has been at the center of public discourse, with some questioning the importance of acquiring formal education.
A testament to resilience and perseverance, Joyce proved that anyone is capable of winning both worlds.
“I wanted to fulfill this dream, because ‘diploma o diskarte‘ is a false dichotomy; one can do both even if it’s a long and arduous journey,” she said.
Joyce also believes that the culmination of her journey is a “testament to [God’s] faithfulness.”
“I wanted to graduate so I can finally tell my 18-year-old self, [who was] crushed, dejected, and forced to grow up fast that, despite everything she had to go through to get there, God has always been good, and He has always meant it all for good,” she said.

A mother of two, the celebrity mom also honored the contribution of her husband, actor Juancho Triviño, whom she described as her “constant encourager“.
“He has always been the one person who’s enabled me to do all the things that you see me do— he’s the current that drives me forward, the calm that I call home, and the steady strength that uplifts me when the waves of life become too overwhelming,” she said.
