Christian Bautista and Kat Ramnani opened up about their love story.
In an interview with Boy Abunda, Kat recalled that they first met at an awards show shortly after she had moved back to the Philippines.
"The first time I saw him I didn't know who he was. It was actually at an awards show. I just moved to the Philippines. I just moved back two months. I've been living in the US for ten years," she recalled. "I was seated next to him at an award show. I had no idea who he was. I thought he was an indie singer. We didn't see each other for five years after that."
The two reconnected years later, and Christian discovered Kat was single.
"We reconnected and then he didn't recognize me because I lost a significant amount of weight and then I still had no idea who he was. He found out I was single. He asked me out on a date," Kat shared.
When Christian was courting Kat, the singer wasted no time in making his intentions clear. "Pinakilala ko siya agad sa akin, sa aking pamilya, kung sino ako," he shared.
The singer opened up about his future plans early on in the relationship. "Ito medyo nagulat din ako sa sarili ko parang nung nakilala ko na talaga siya, nung nagustuhan ko na talaga siya, parang sinabi ko ito ako at ito ang plano ko in the next two to three years. Pareho ba tayo ng plano natin sa buhay? Kasi kung pareho tayo baka mag-work, kung hindi baka hindi mag-work," Christian shared.
The couple also recalled the story of their engagement, which took place during a European trip. "Sabi ko sa kanya, meron akong European tour, magkita naman tayo sa Greece kasi nandun na ako, makakatipid tayo," Christian quipped.
Christian tried to find the perfect moment to propose, but he discovered that the ring was missing.
"Pumunta siya [sa Greece]. Tinago ko 'yung engagement ring. And then nung nandun na kami sa Greece naghahanap ako ng perfect spot or moment. But I don't know, hindi lumalabas, hindi ko ma-feel at that moment or spot, until nawala 'yung engagement ring. Nawala yung engagement ring kasi nilagay ko sa check in at 'yung eroplano pinadala sa ibang bansa," he recalled.
"I was so distraught and then thank God after a few days, nahanap 'yung bag and then nung nakita ko na yung bag and the ring, I proposed that night."
Kat shared that the proposal happened in the most unexpected way. "He proposed to me in my pajamas na may butas-butas on our last night. So in all the beautiful spots in Europe, no. He just did it in the room, in private, in my Winnie the Pooh pajamas, with butas on it," she said.
Christian highlighted: "Parang pinakita ko rin sa kanya [na] I don't need all these sceneries, I just need you."
