K-pop boy group EXO has sent fans into a frenzy after members Kai and Lay reunited for a dance challenge on social media.
On EXO’s official social media pages, the duo surprised fans by teaming up for a dance collaboration featuring Kai’s single “Wait On Me.”

Kai, whose real name is Kim Jongin, and Lay, whose real name is Zhang Yixing, are both known as part of EXO’s dance line, along with the group’s youngest member Oh Sehun, who is currently completing his mandatory military service. Kai is from EXO-K, the Korean unit of the group, while Lay was originally part of the Chinese unit, EXO-M.
The collaboration marks a rare appearance of Lay performing with a fellow EXO member after years of limited group activities. Fans flooded social media with emotional reactions.
“The way I gasped when I saw this 😭❤️🩹,” one fan commented.
A K-pop fan also posted on X: “8 years and 4 months!!! That's exactly how much time it has been since they performed together! I can't believe this Is this actually real!? Oh my god! My Lay and Kai are really together dancing😭😭CRYING SCREAMING COZ ITS REALLY HAPPENING EXO OT9 FOREVER!! @layzhang @weareoneEXO,” a fan shared.
Other fans shared their hopes for a full-group comeback: “LAY???!?!?! WITH KAI???? exo’s main dancers??? we’re so back exo ot9 comeback when.”

Previously, Lay also supported Kai by joining his “Rover” dance challenge on TikTok, performing his own choreography to the title track of Kai’s album of the same name.
“Go Kai #rover,” he wrote. as he danced in the song with his own steps.
Earlier this year, Lay also reunited with fellow EXO members Park Chanyeol and Suho (whose real name is Kim Junmyeon) during an SM Entertainment event.
“@kimjuncotton @real_pcy See you next time ~~~~~~~~~^^ we are one! (fire emoji) Brothers forever)," Lay said in a photo he posted on his Instagram story.
Meanwhile, Kai is set to hold his solo concert KAION at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on July 27, marking his first solo event in the Philippines.
According to local organizer PULP Live World, Kai will also hold a fan signing event on July 28 for his fourth mini album, Wait On Me.
“We're not done yet, EXO-L! 😉 After the concert, we're giving you one more reason to hold onto that excitement a little longer! 🖤 KAI - The 4th Mini Album ‘Wait On Me’ FAN SIGNING EVENT in MANILA happening on July 28, 2025!” they announced.
The post also includes a video message from Kai saying, “Hello, EXO-L! This is KAI. I can’t wait to see you all at my concert very soon! And, I have something even more special to share with you. We’ll be meeting again at my fan sign event on July 28.”
He went on: “I hope we can create unforgettable memories by spending time together up close and having more conversations. I’m truly happy to be able to spend more time with all of you.”
