Today’s generation may know her a lovable and talented senior actress with a career that has already spanned five decades, but Gloria Diaz has a lot in life to be proud of, including making history as the first Filipina to take home the Miss Universe crown in 1969. After getting married in 1986, Gloria ended up having three children, which include model and actress Isabelle Daza, and her siblings Ava, and Rafael.
As part of this year’s 51st Metro Manila Film Festival entry Rekonek, Gloria shared how happy she was to be part of the heartwarming Christmas-themed family film and shared one of her favorite Christmas memories with her family when it comes to gift-giving. “Siyempre when I’m with all my children, that’s the most important. Kasi noon, when the kids were home, before we go to the big family party, I give them their gifts,” she recalled.
Gloria explained that she enjoyed planning unique ways for her kids to find their gifts to add to the excitement of Christmas. “So each child was different. Like sila Isabelle, I write a map kung saan ko ipapadala and then they follow the map. Finally, I got her a bike and it was on a tree. And my other son had the biggest gift, mga three days na, excited na excited siya. Tapos finally binuksan na niya tapos it was a computer chair. And then sabi niya, ‘Huh? Computer chair, my Christmas gift? Parang na-shock siya (laughs) Why daw di ba, wala pa siya computer nun (laughs). Siyempre he had to say thank you, I love you mommy pero makikita mo sa mukha niya na why this? And then our other daughter it was a dog. And she really loved it for two weeks and then afterwards, ikaw na bahala diyan (laughs),” she shared.
