Actress and celebrity mom Ellen Adarna once again welcomed questions from her followers during an Instagram stories question and answer session at midnight of December 24. Among the many queries, one stood out – prompting Ellen to speak not about future romance, but about a conscious pause she has chosen for herself following recent life changes: committing to celibacy.
During Ellen's Instagram Q&A session, a netizen brought up a prediction about her supposed next partner, saying: “Based sa isang manghuhula, politician daw next partner mo probably next year. Any comments?”
Ellen responded by revealing that she has committed to celibacy "renewable every 5 years," sharing where she currently stands emotionally and personally.
“I committed to five years of celibacy, renewable every five years. If it works, I continue. If it doesn't, the purpose and goal was still fulfilled. (And yes longer than my marriage 🤣🤣) will focus on my babies❤️”
She followed this by saying she is intentionally giving herself time before making any decisions about love. “Wait untiļ the dust settles,” the actress maintained.
Ellen explained that the choice is rooted in self-care rather than fear, as she prioritizes her mental and emotional recovery.
“This isn't about fear, it's about healing my nervous system.”
Reflecting on her past experiences, she shared that she is deliberately slowing down and learning from what she has been through.
“I’m choosing regulation over rushing (because duh, whirlwind romance pa more! Trauma izz real) 🤣🫠 as per Alanis [Morissette ] - you live you learn. T*nga ko nalang kung di 🤣”
Alongside her responses, Ellen used Alanis Morissette’s 1995 song “You Learn” as background music in her post, underscoring her message about growth through experience. In a follow-up Instagram story, another netizen asked about her biggest lesson in love.
“Learn from me: Do not rush,” Ellen directly shared.
The questions came a month after Ellen publicly disclosed her separation from husband Derek Ramsay, after alleged infidelity that she said she only learned about weeks before.

In the same Q&A, Ellen also spoke about how she is spending the holidays with her family. She shared that her children would be celebrating Christmas with their fathers – her son Elias with John Lloyd Cruz, and her daughter Liana with Derek in England. Addressing why she allowed Liana to travel despite their recent separation, Ellen explained her decision.
"I allowed Liana to go with her father's family because nakiusap yung papa ni Derek if Liana could go, if I could reconsider." Ellen began. "At first I didn't allow but he's sick and I don't want to carry that guilt, because who knows what's going to happen," she continued.
She said the decision was about peace of mind and compassion.
"I don't want to carry that guilt na I didn't allow Liana to spend time with her grandfather. Can I sleep peacefully at night if something happens to him and I didn't allow her? So there," Ellen said.
Ellen first went public with her marital issues in November, when she shared screenshots and narrated how she found out about the alleged cheating that led to their separation. She later claimed that Derek did not apologize to her.
“He blames everything, everyone, but himself. He was able to convince his friends and people that it’s my postpartum,” she said at that time.
She also recalled Derek’s belief that he had been cursed by an ex-girlfriend.
“He’s convinced that an ex-girlfriend made him kulam. All of a sudden there was this bowl of salt with garlic in it,” she said, adding with humor, “Blame it on the kulam.”
When asked if she cried after learning the alleged truth, Ellen said she felt something else instead.
“Imagine all these years I felt like I was gaslighted. I was right; my intuition was right. And you know what, the truth no matter what, comes out in so many ways. So, there lumabas din,” she said.
