Angelica Panganiban gave a candid and lighthearted reaction to the cheating issue involving her ex-boyfriend Derek Ramsay and his wife Ellen Adarna. In an interview with Karen Davila on December 11, the actress revisited her past relationships while reflecting on how differently she views everything now that she is happily married to businessman, Gregg Homan.
Karen asked Angelica the difference between being in a relationship with Gregg compared to her “high-profile” ex-boyfriends. As she described her life now, Angelica said that everything feels quieter and more grounded.
“Ang laki ng tinahimik ng buhay ko. Pakiramdam ko para akong na-recalibrate ngayon e. Nag-iba yung mundo ko, na-appreciate ko ngayon yung life. Noon kasi maingay e, magulo, ang daming ganap, ang daming problema. Parang laging may contest.”
Married in December 2023 and now a mother to daughter Amila Sabine, she made it clear that the calm she enjoys today stands in contrast to what she once lived through.

When Karen asked if ever she thought about the possibility of marriage with her past partners, Angelica did not hesitate to answer “No.”
“With Derek, kahit na matagal kami, I didn’t see him na pupunta talaga doon, na parang may planong mag-settle. Wala. Siguro kasi every now and then, may problema e. Like may issue na naman, may away na naman.” she recalled.
Angelica and Derek were together for six years before revealing their breakup in 2012.
With John Lloyd Cruz, she recalled that it was understood between them that he did not want marriage, adding, “With John Lloyd, I think clear sa relationship namin na ayaw niyang magpakasal. And then ako din naman. ‘Pag nalulungkot ako, hindi naman palaging masaya ‘yung relationship namin. ‘Pag nalulungkot ako, parang, ‘Ano pa bang ginagawa ko dito? Hindi naman din ako pakakasalan, e ‘yun ang gusto ko,” she explained.
“May ibang babae kasi na gusto rin ‘yun di ba na hindi naman din magpakasal, ako gusto ko eh,” she added.

Karen then noted how Angelica’s story somehow overlaps with Ellen, with both women having shared exes. Angelica said she had met Ellen only once, recalling, “I met her once. Naka-hangout ko siya, kami pa ni John Lloyd noon. Then may boyfriend din siya nun e.”
When asked about her reaction to Ellen and Derek’s recent separation and alleged cheating issue, Angelica answered candidly and with honesty. She said, “Parang nadismaya, in a way, na parang ‘oh talaga ba?’” The actress admitted that she did not feel sad over it.
“Hinanap ko yung sadness pero parang hindi e. Nung una hinahanap ko yung pake ko talaga nung una. ‘May pake ba ‘ko?’ Wala naman akong pake pero ‘yun nga. Parang ‘talaga ba?’”
She also mentioned being surprised, noting the age gap between her and Derek, explaining, “Alam ko kasi 10 years ang agwat namin nung ex ko e. So parang, kung 39 ako baka almost 50 na siya. So parang nagulat lang lang ako. Baka ‘yun yung term, nagulat ako, ‘ah hindi pala kumalma.’”
She was then asked if she believed she and Ellen could be friends. Angelica laughed through her answer, “Feeling ko [oo]. Marami kaming pag-uusapan.”
“Huwag lang niya i-screenshot ah. Huwag lang niya i-record. Hindi pa nga ako nai-invite doon sa groupchat eh," Angelica said jokingly, clarifying that her reaction was out of lightheartedness and not in bad faith.
Angelica went on to express admiration for Ellen, acknowledging the strength she sees in her as a mother. “Alam mo I wish her well. Having two kids? Ang hirap non.” She added that Ellen appears to be doing great based on what she sees online: “And nakikita ko yung mga stories niya dadaan sa algorithm ko, mukha siyang okay na mom. Di ba? You wish her well di ba? ‘Go teh, galingan mo diyan’ Diba?”
“Baka iba-iba pa yung nasabi ko kung hindi ako masaya ngayon. Sasabihin ko ‘Ito naman hindi pa natuto sa'kin.’ Iyon mabibitawan ko ‘yun noon.”
“Nakakabilib nga siya e ang tapang niya. Para niyang nagawa yung mga hindi ko kayang gawin noon. ‘Hanep, galing!’ napa-ganon talaga ako. ‘Galing nito!’ Ako natagalan eh,” she shared laughing.
Ellen later reacted with humor to the interview, sharing Instagram stories of her watching and laughing at Angelica’s remarks. “Promise masaya and nakakatawa ung group chat 😂 @iamangelicap,” Ellen wrote. It was in November that Ellen exposed the alleged cheating of Derek whom she married in 2021.
Meanwhile, Angelica returns to the big screen after four years as she leads the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival entry UnMarry with longtime friend and fellow actor, Zanjoe Marudo.
