MANILA -- Carla Guevara Laforteza shared the Grammy nominations of KATSEYE, the global group led by her daughter Sophia, felt like a dream— literally.
KATSEYE was nominated for Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their song "Gabriela."
"She called us. I had work that night from an early call time so I slept early. My phone kept ringing at around midnight. I did not notice. 1 a.m., it still kept ringing. So I finally answered and she went: 'Mommy, we got nominated sa Grammys.' I said, 'What? Wow, okay babe, that's good, bye," she recalled in an interview after the press conference of "Bagets the Musical" in Pasay City, Friday.
"Then I dreamt about it. I thought it was all a dream. So pag gising ko, akala ko panaginip," Laforteza added.

The news only sank in after she read the message of Lea Salonga the morning after.
"OMG! I thought, it was real after all. I called my husband— and he was like, 'Hello we video called you last night,'" she shared.
Guevara said the group chat she shares with the other mothers of KATSEYE members also blew up with excitement.
"We have a KATSEYE mom's group chat. We were screaming. Our girls, can you believe it?" she said.
She said she is proud of the global girl group and feels they have more than proven they merited the recognition.
"They were not handpicked. They fought for it. Nakita mo they worked hard for it. They deserve every recognition, the nominations, the love," she said.
Laforteza plays one of the mothers in Bagets the Musical, set to run at the Newport Performing Arts Theater by January 2026.
Rapper Kendrick Lamar leads the nominations for the 2026 Grammy Awards with nine, while Lady Gaga ranked second among performers with seven nods for her "Mayhem" album.
The ceremonies will take place in Los Angeles on February 1.
