Kapamilya actress Jodi Sta. Maria posted her thoughts after the onslaught of several typhoons in the country. On her Instagram account, she maintained that while Filipinos are resilient, they should also demand better.
The recent typhoons that struck the country have left hundreds dead and thousands of houses destroyed or damaged.

“Filipinos are one of the strongest most resilient people I know. Yung babangon kahit anong sakuna. Kakayaning tumawa kahit anong delubyo ang dumaan. How we show up for each other never fails to move me,” she wrote.
But Jodi maintained that resilience shouldn’t be the only story after a calamity hits the country.
“Most of the time I can’t help but ask..was it the intensity of the typhoon? Pwede kayang hindi ganito kalala? Kasi taon-taon naman tayong binabagyo. Or was it the failure of those who were meant to protect us? What part did we play in this?” she questioned.
The Kapamilya actress asserted that everyone deserves better as she called out those who “could’ve done [something] to prevent” the destructive aftermath of the calamities.
“I pray for healing for each and everyone affected by this storm and other recent calamities. We deserve better. And to those who could’ve done more to prevent this…may this be your wake-up call,” she expressed.
A glimpse of the aftermath of the typhoons was shared in the series of photos that she uploa in her post. Each photo had their own captions as well where the Kapamilya actress maintained how “healing is not forgetting.”
“Even in the storm, you showed grace just by getting through the day. Not every strength looks like bravery. Sometimes, it’s simply holding on. But healing is not forgetting,” she wrote.
“Healing is remembering and demanding better. Resilience has limits. We can’t keep surviving what could’ve been prevented. Let this be the storm that changed not just the weather,” she ended.
Friends and fans shared the same sentiments as Jodi in the comment section of her post. Other netizens applauded her for using her platform in speaking up for those who can’t.
