Kapamilya actress Bela Padilla called the attention of politician Mark Cojuangco on her X (formerly Twitter) account earlier this week. This comes after the Pangasinan 2nd District Representative replied to a netizen about the recent flooding that’s been happening in the country due to the typhoons.

Bela is known to be vocal on social media as she uses her platform to give her followers awareness about what’s happening.

“Bakit kasi sa flood plain gumawa ng tirahan? 🤦‍♀️ Takaw sakuna,” the Congressman wrote.

The Kapamilya actress couldn’t help but respond to the post of the politician and "respectfully" blasted him on her X account.

“Respectfully, you don’t start giving swimming lessons to a drowning man, sir. You save him first,” she shared.

“Why didn’t the LGUs stop them from building there in the first place? Common folk don’t know where they can or can’t build. I mean-look at Slater Young,” she added.

The Congressman has yet to issue a response to Bela’s post as of this writing.

Netizens shared their sentiments as well, calling the post of the politician “tone-deaf” during the height of typhoon Uwan. Other netizens agreed to his opinion to which Bela calmly responded as well.

“The congressman is correct here, use your platform to educate our fellow citizens, tell them not to build their houses along coastal lines, along the riverbanks, and on top of the fault lines. Inform them to evacuate quickly, go to elevated areas,” the netizen told Bela.

“He is correct that you shouldn’t build on coastal lines. But he didn’t inform, did he? He questioned why they did it. It’s so easy to read the tone of that tweet, and you don’t punch a man that’s already down. Help first and then educate for next time,” Bela replied.

Apart from calling out the remarks of the politician, Bela has also posted several hotlines that her followers can call if they need assistance.
