To celebrate the release of The Life of a Showgirl, Selena Gomez took to social media to share a behind-the-scenes look at her wedding, with longtime friend Taylor Swift right by her side.
"In honor of SHOWGIRL... blessed to have you by my side almost 20 years later gator! I love you @taylorswift forever and always," Selena posted on her Instagram page.
In the said post, Taylor can be seen cheering for Selena. "Look at her! Oh my god!" Taylor exclaimed in the video upon seeing Selena in her wedding veil.
"I'm so happy. I'm getting married... I love it so much!" Selena gushed about her wedding day.
Selena married music producer Benny Blanco on September 27 (US time) in Santa Barbara, California.
In a recent interview on SiriusXM's The Morning Mash Up, Taylor recounted attending the wedding of Selena.
"Selena was the most beautiful, not just the most beautiful bride, the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. [I'm] just so happy, and she deserves it so much. And you only wish that for people, you know?" Taylor remarked.
In an interview on the Therapuss with Jake Shane podcast in August, Selena Gomez looked back on the moment she first met Taylor Swift. The "Who Says" singer shared that their paths first crossed during their teenage years, when they were both dating members of the Jonas Brothers.
"Taylor and I dated the Jonas Brothers. I dated Nick and she dated Joe. And everything was, it was cute, we were young. We all know and love each other now and it’s so cute. We don’t know what we were doing," she shared.
Despite their breakups with the brothers, the two forged a lasting bond. "She and I like to say the best thing we got out of those relationships was each other because it was really sweet," she remarked.
The pair quickly became inseparable. "At that age, we became best friends, bonded over the breakup as girls do. And then we then just stuck around for all the ups and downs that came after. Here we are now 16 years later," she said.
Selena also revealed that it was around that time she got an early listen to one of Taylor's most iconic hits.
"I was about 15, she was about 18 and that's when it was the crazy curly Taylor and she had all these bracelets that went all the way up. I believe 'Love Story' was the first song she had ever played me, and it wasn't released yet," she recalled.
Selena remarked that she was instantly captivated by the song. "I was in a hotel room and I remember it vividly, it was just one of those songs I instantly heard and thought this is one of the most beautiful songs ever," she relayed.
