Taylor Swift made a generous donation to a two-year-old fan named Lilah who is battling cancer.
The mother of Lilah, Katelynn Smoot, shared on their family's TikTok account @standwithlilah, that they received a $100,000 or ₱5.81 million donation from the pop star via her daughter's GoFundMe.
"Sending the biggest hug to my friend, Lilah! Love, Taylor," the singer wrote on the GoFundMe page after sending the donation.
Katelynn expressed her deep gratitude to Taylor "I cannot say thank you enough. I'm truly in shock. This means we don't have to worry about anything other than Lilah. Truly such a blessing. Thank you Taylor Swift," she posted on TikTok.
Lilah recently gained online attention after a TikTok of her listening to Swift's song "The Fate of Ophelia" went viral. In the clip, she watches the music video of the track and sweetly refers to the singer as "my friend."
According to Lilah's GoFundMe page, she underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor in March but was later diagnosed with "a very rare aggressive form of brain cancer." The young fan started her chemo in March and had two rounds of induction chemotherapy and three rounds of high dose chemotherapy.
According to an update on her GoFundMe published on August 17, she was almost done with her chemo rounds that month.
"Lilahs next MRI and LP is in early September. This will tell us if the chemo worked. After that she will start 6 weeks of proton radiation where our family will have to travel to CHOP for her to receive. We will be a few hundred miles away from home. All the donations we receive will help us with travel expenses and paying bills as we are still out of work while Lilah is in treatment," the update read.
Taylor released her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, on October 3.
It sold over 4 million copies in its first week, marking the biggest debut week in music history. Celebrating the milestone, Taylor recently took to social media to express her deep gratitude to everyone who supported her album.
"I have 4 million thank you’s I want to send to the fans, and 4 million reasons to feel even more proud of this album than I already was. Thank you for going out to celebrate this project in the movie theaters, investing in vinyl, streaming, watching the video, buying CDs, reading the poems I wrote inside the packaging, and immersing yourselves in The Life of a Showgirl.
